Westbrook

I was going to come on here to say to go all out for next summer because Westbrook is a free agent but the Thunder are going into full rebuild mode, they need to get rid of Russ, he shouldn't be playing in OKC for this season, let him go win elsewhere.

Here's an option I think is very possible and we are all going to hate: Westbrook to the Lakers.
The Lakers are probably one of the only teams that will be confident Russ would resign and that's his hometown (and it's very much like him to be the new Kobe) and they can offer a great offer to the Thunder.

Let's say Westbrook and Ilyasove (the Thunder would probably want to get rid of him at this point and the Lakers can use him) for D'Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle- that's quite a haul for the Thunder, they would have:
Russell, Payne, Oladipo, Roberson, Ingram, Randle, Sabonis and Adams all on rookie deal- that's one of the most promising young teams in the league.

And the Lakers would field a Westbrook-Clarckson-Deng-Ilyasova-Mozgov starting five with Lou-Will, Swaggy, Nance and young Zubac off the bench and would still have some money to spend. that's a playoff team.

Rent-a-Westbrook huh?

I wouldn't want to give up much, but a year of Cuz and Westbrook would be fun as hell.

To dream the impossible dream. :p

id do it and then sell him on the vision long term and if we walks well then the PG crop next FA is fairly strong and you sell them on Westbrook's effectiveness with DMC this season and the fact that its a great place to be - working hand in hand with the best big in the league

I think Westbrook gets traded to the highest bidder willing to take the risk he turns around and signs with the Lakers next season. I am sure Danny Ainge's wheels are turning right now:)

With Thibs looking a bit reluctant to cash in potential for current talent Boston seems to be the front-runner by far. Then again biggest homer in the league might just insult Presti with his first offer, that no one will pick up the phone in Oklahoma afterwards.
Lakers do seem pretty confident, they get Westy next summer.

Think like Laker fans. Westbrook for filler becuz we know Westbrook wants to play in a warm clientt, i men climate ! Lets send <inseett trash here> . Do it Mitch, I mean Vlade

I keep thinking of Minnesota as a target for Westbrook, they have a lot of young talent to offer and if you add Westbrook to that team under Thibs they are going to be scary...

If they could do it and keep Wiggins and KAT, then I think they'd do it. It might mean giving up Rubio, Lavine, maybe someone else and picks, but if they got a guarantee he'd re-sign they would have a good big three.

If we did enter into discussions for him I think we would be looking at moving the following:

- Collison, McLemore, Richardson, WCS, Skal, Papa

I don't envisage them wanting Rudy Gay, Koufos, and even Collison is a push at 28 years old. I think they'd want young talent and as many picks as possible. Problem we'd have is if we added Westbrook and he re-signed is that our picks would be outside the lottery. The further issue is 2017 first rounder is owed to Chicago if it falls outside the top ten and 2019 is owed to Philly. So perhaps we could offer 2018 and 2020 and beyond, but they'd be late round picks.

I'm not sure they'd do it because I think someone like Boston or even Philly could offer them a boatload of draft picks and some young talent as well.

Minnesota could put together a great offer. It would likely start with Kris Dunn and Minnesota's 1st rounder next year. But if I'm Thibs and the Wolves I don't know that I'd gamble on a possible one year rental of Westbrook when they could just let their young and talented team grow together while having a lot of salary cap flexibility.

Even if the Kings could put together an enticing package they'd essentially have to gut their team to get Westbrook and then risk losing him as a free agent next offseason. If Westbrook doesn't want to stay in OKC would he want to stay in Sacramento after they have to trade most of their talent other than Cousins to get him?

Westbrook/Cousins would be an incredible foundation but there'd be a ton of work to build around them and that's only if Russ would be interested in staying long term.

Only way we or Minnesota would do it is in a sign and trade. Maybe OKC go and see what he's worth and find the best offer for both parties that would see Westbrook sign an extension to facilitate a trade?

Either that or OKC trade him for the best offer to a team willing to pay the price for a one year rental and let them run the risk of walking away for nothing. Some team might bite the bullet. Let's hope it's not us without an extension agreed.
