Well's Agent, Kings Talking

I think 45 million is at the VERY most... but don't think it comes into play.

I disagree, Venom. It can go either way.

For this thing to take this long the numbers have to be farther off than assumed. If was the difference between 2-3 million then there is no way this would take so long.

And Shareef is our best low post player. He is better than Artest and Bonzi.

I'd say those 3 are probably some of the best in the low post at their respective positions. But if I had to give the ball to one of those guys and say "get us some points" I'd choose Reef.

I just hope this crap is over with soon so Petrie can start making other moves.

Indeed. SAR at the low post has a high likelihood of scoring. SA had to double him in to take him out of the game in the PO. He isn't flashy or loud
so people tend to overlook him. My biggest problem with KT is that he is taking minutes from SAR.

45 is a little much. But we cant let him walk away for nothing, if worst comes to worst perhaps 45 million will be worth it.

Ummm folks... why would the Kings offer anymore money than they allready have? Noother team has even matched the ORIGINAL offer. Are we really worried aobut Bonzi being insulted by the BEST offer he has been made? Are we worreid about him walking away from the Kings for LESS money?

Disscussions about other teams wanting a sign and trade for more money is just talk at this point. More than likely Agent posturing to try and squeze another million or two out of the Kings for his client. Petrie is holding the cards and frankly at this point Bonzi's hand has been tiped and he is not holding much.

I wouldn't go all the way up to 45 million unless there was no alternative left (sign and trade for example). Bonzi wants more money and hes going to find the most here in Sactown, plus not to mention we need him. We made a team like the Spurs get a bigger guard/forward just for cases like the Kings have (strong guard and forward). But sometimes things happen --if he signs with another team its gonna suck, but i see no reason why he should--he's wanted here the most.

S.K: "We made a team like the Spurs get a bigger guard/forward just for cases like the Kings have"

They did? Who? Rich Melzer? We'll have to see about that. ;)

Ooh, Eric Williams, yes. He's not what he was when he was with Boston, but he can still d up and is strong still. Don't think he's anything to think about much.

^ A player that played on the Raptors--something Williams. From what i read, the dude isn't a pushover.

Yep -- Eric Williams. Hard to interpret that move any other way. I'm rather proud actually.

And then a week later they were after Harpring as well. Mentioned several times, the Spurs have had an oddly shaky/scared feeling offseason, running aroound trying to matchup with everybody else rather than having confidence in their own plan/approach.

thats probably because popovich sees the light at the end of the tunnel and it ain't the gleam of a trophy but the screaming train light from overthehillville.

I interpret it as a total salary dump.

Eric Williams is a pretty strong guy though, he can even defend the 4 position.

Aside from going against Ron/Bonzi, I think if Eric stays around, is another option to use on Dirk if Bowen isn't getting it done on him. Which could well be the case if the Dallas series was an indication, but, I think that comes back to us with Bowen having to face Ron and Bonzi. ;)

Well that's why that move was hard to interpret in any other fashion -- Williams is old. Harpring isn't old, but he's no spring chicken and he's had microfracture surgery on his knee. Certianly wasn't a youth movement. Was a muscle movement. And why did they suddenly decide they needed 2/3 muscle? Because Ron+Bonzi burly balled them into a grueling series, and then they had no adequate answer for Dirk's unique package the next round.

You're right Celt. I think it's Bonzi's agent more than anything being a prick, but Bonzi needs to come out settle up now with the Kings...enough screwing around already. It's been 2 weeks and we have the best offer and he likes it here, we like him...blah blah blah Let's get it done already and move on so we can address the 4/5 position we desperatly need before everyone is accounted for already. I would have liked for us to have picked up Francisco Elson off the bench at the 4/5, but now it looks like he's gone as well. Would have been a nice boost at a cheap price.

Elson, indeed, and they could get Jackie Butler, too...

Luckily Wright/Cato/Olowokandi are still there for decent-solid centers for FA.

Hey I don't see why Bonzi (and his agent) should "hurry up." He has an offer, wnats more and is exploring his options and thereby attemtping to get the Kings to up the offer. I understand that lots of impatient Kings fansfind this frustrating, but Bonzi is trying to get one last great contract and wants to maximize his earnings. All he can do now is wait and try to presure the Kings or find a beter deal. As for Petrie the only reasons to give make a new better offer is to lock up Bonzi and move on OR to asure Bonzi will be "happy."

So in the end we have two parties who BOTH belive that time and patience will benifit them. Fans can take solace in the fact that the longer it takes the greater the likelyhood of Bonzi returnign is if for no OTHER reason simply beceause the teams with money and openings drops.

Yeah, but I'd hate to know that we missed out on using the MLE on a particular player while waiting to see what happens with Bonzi in case we were going to do a sign-n-trade.

Like who? Elson and/or Butler are likely to the Spurs, but it's not final yet, and they're not getting the MLE. Part of it.

There aren't any PFs that are worth it or what we need.

PGs? Banks, Delk, FAs.... it's not clear who the back-up PG will be, could be Douby or Price or one of those guys or maybe a trade for Lue.

Back-up centers? Wright/Cato/Olowokandi are at least decent and would fill what we want for 1 out of 2 defensive bigs. Then you have Voshkul, who isn't bad, but not an athlete or shotblocker, but still can defend/rebound/shoot, same for Aaron Williams but he's older and a bit smaller.

Wright/Cato/Olowokandi/voshukul

all cwap

I disagree, they're decent, and I sense some ignorancy. Those guys are our realities right now for FA back-up center:

- Kelvin Cato (rehabbing the ankle this summer, big, can block shots, score around the basket, rebound)

- Aaron Williams (Good defender, has a good jumpshot, and can score in the paint, good rebounder. Just not a shotblocker really. He's older, but he's solid still. Showed with the Hornets last year he can still go.)

- Michael Olowokandi (say what you want about him, but he's big, good rebounder, long, and blocks shots. wouldn't mind him at all)

- Wright (Has quickness and athleticism, good size at 6'11" 240, can defend in the post, is a presence in the paint, has a solid offensive game in the post and a mid-range jumper. Can play center or PF. The reason why his production decreased last year was simple - his minutes were reduced, thus his role was limited. He was in a contract year so wouldn't of just played like that. Before 05-06 he was better, I'm sure he had a bunch of nice games for the Grizz though. He'd have a consistent role and minutes here, regardless. Musselman also knows him from their time in Memphis for 2 seasons.)

- Voshkul (post-defender, not athletic, nice size at 6'11" 240/250, has a jumpshot, good rebounder. More of a bottom option probably)

I'd take any one of those guys over injury-prone, unathletic, Vitaly Potapenko behind Brad Miller.

Who do you want as our back-up center, realistically? Magloire, if we got him it's uncertain where he'd play.

This is unbelievable... I can't believe this isn't solved yet... BTW, for anyone saying why should Bonzi hurry up? How about for your teamates that would like to know whats going on? How about for the brand new coach that needs to know what his roster is going to look like? How about for the fans? I'm not angry at Bonzi for trying to make the most he can, but it comes to a point where there really aren't any more options and you just need to sack up and make a decision.
