Sam and Bryce think we have the same ceiling with Lavine as we had with Fox. lets see what happens
He's seeing the vision that some of us have started to notice about Monk as a lead ball-handler. There' real offensive star potential there.

I guess he hasn't been watching the Kings this season, haha. Monk has been the PG for most of it.

The only thing now is Monk has to dial in some of this step back and launch stuff. LaVine has those bases covered a lot more effectively.
I mean, Monk is now THE engine of this thing for 35+ MPG. It's his show. LaVine gives you some secondary playmaking, but it's nothing that he's known for. He's a finisher, shooter, scorer. His job is to be on the end of what Monk and Domas create for him and what he can go create for himself.
I just don't know how this goes with DDR again. It's a better stylistic fit because LaVine is such a dynamite shooter, but there were real problems with that CHI squad. But they also didn't have anywhere close to a Domas caliber player and Monk=Ball in terms of player talent before he got hurt.
We're 100% all-in on buckets though. I actually think we probably get a little better offensively because you can fit LaVine offensively more effectively with our other offensive hubs. Defensively... well... let's just not worry about that eh?

We'll see, I think that engine is going to be a lot more Domas from here on. LaVine is in the 93rd percentile this season in ISO. Monk is 63rd, which is actually his highest ever? Make no mistakes, as a scorer, LaVine is ELITE. If someone is dribbling the ball and launching, LaVine is the man. Most years he's actually been better than Fox too.

LaVine is a bona fide three level scorer and a legit #1 option that draws the best defender every night. He is elite in both ISO PPP and three point shooting. Don't look up Fox stats in the same category this year.
This is the reason why I was initially iffy on the LaVine fit before we traded for him because I would've liked to see Monk as the #1 guy. But maybe Monk and LaVine can learn how to play off of each other.
C'mon Sam. "If they are willing"? If you've been watching the Kings at all over the last few months, the new PG with Fox gone should be pretty obvious.
Zach signed that offer sheet with us years ago and while I am weary of his contract the fact he waived his trade kicker (and didn't have to to make this work?) is more than enough for me to welcome him with open arms and thank him for wanting to be here unlike he who shall not be named. I hope we can keep him healthy and he continues his career resurgence here.

Since Doug Christie became coach, the passes he makes night in, night out, are just phenomenal. Not being in the stands, I keep asking, "How did he do that?" The guy is a wizard with the ball in his hands.
Best case, with LaVine garnering more defensive attention, opponents will not be able to double-team Monk when he crosses mid-court the way they have on occasion. Malik may also feel less pressure to produce, which will lead to a more relaxed and more accurate three-point shot. That's what I hope for.
Also, LaVine is 6' 5", which is an improvement over Fox in the backcourt. He is just as good a rebounder as De'Aaron Fox.

I’ve never been a Lavine fan and think the shots he’s been hitting this season will suddenly stop falling — as typically seems to happen once a player puts on a KINGS uniform— but will be super happy to be proven wrong.
While I firmly believe the KINGS made an underwhelming trade and submitted to terrorist demands, if the result is this team playing a lot better I’m all for it. They were playing well before Fox returned so let’s see what happens now.
That said, if the wheels fall off completely you bet I’m going to remind people that they actually thought this was a good trade.
