We do have some of the personnel, such as Garcia, who shot at a 39% clip from downtown in half of his total games in the league. He's starting to become more of a jumpshooter as he's recovering from injuries/aging, and considering our team needs exactly the three point shooting we should really urge him to become our sharpshooter. Casspi can shoot the deep ball too, but he has to really adapt to this role--we don't need any more one-on-one players who want to score, but who want to hit set three point shots so they can optimize Reke and Cousins. To their credit both Garcia and Casspi really can hit set threes, just need to tap into this more.
I'd like to say something about Udrih on this front as well. I'm not referring to his pee-poor defense (atrocious man-to-man and team defense) which negates his overall impact, but I'm also referring to the fact that his strong point--his offense--doesn't quite jibe with Reke's game. While he isn't ball dominant, Udrih likes to take a lot of shots off the dribble as well, and moreover he's really a mid-range shooter--really likes to spin his way into no man's land and release some of those Steve Nash-like shots. He really shoots them well too, but the problem is we don't need a guy who can create his own shot and get into the mid-range--that doesn't optimize Reke's abilities. Udrih can't hit the long ball, doesn't look to take many and his percentages have deteriorated from there this season. There's a reason why that, combined with the defense, really, really has made him lose his starting spot to a journeyman, and why he's really prime trade bait now. We need shooters, not scorers/guys who think they should score.
