We are missing that "go to" guy.

Gary

All-Star
It's obvious that we are missing that go to type player that will carry us on his back win or lose. Webber was that type of guy. Although he had diminishing skills because of the knee he wanted to take the shots.

We have five guys out on the floor that are strangers to that role. Five guys that don't seem to want that role. We have a few choices here people..

A) Wait for the team to get some games under thair belt. Win or lose we are developing chemistry, and sooner or later someone will want to take the team on their shoulders.

B) Trade a few of the "core" guys i.e. Bibby, Peja, Miller for a go to guy. Someone that is outspoken, and will have no trouble taking a team that he is new to on his shoulders.

C) Let this season play out, and let all the contract guys go. Try to trade up to get a good draft choice, and try to sign a big name player as well.

D) "IF" we start 5-15 or 7-20 we FIRE Adleman, and make a couple trades for expiring contracts. Develop Garcia, and Martin by starting them. In the off season we get a good draft pick, and will have some $$ so we try to pick up a superstar FA.

What would you do?

can you replace a peja on this team , with his shooting abilities . artest for peja deal seems like a joke , artest is amazing player . we will get the wrong end of the deal while dealing peja . He will come back and haunt kings fans for years to come . People don't understand the importance of having a player who can stretch the defense , bibby can do it sometimes .

IF we go 7 and 20 you can bet that Adelman is coaching another team so fast your head will spin.

A) Yes

B) Could very well happen, but who?

C) Pretty risky and there isn't really anyone that would be worth it I don't think.

D) Unfortunately, there are no superstar FA's to speak of. Lakers plan is already ruined, there's really nothing there anymore.

I'd say wait til the mid-season and then talk about trade prospects. This team has a lot of new guys. I'll wait and see how they adapt.

I think what we are trying to say is, we need a BJax, or a Jon Barry. Someone who comes off the bench, is an immediate spark, scores some points and disrupts the other team.

Then after BJax we had Darius, always good for 6-8 points in 10 min or so.

And before Darius we had Fundy, a point a minute, instant offense and 6-9 and able to hustle some rebounds.

Even an Eddie House like last year, off the bench and immediate points.

I think I'm waiting for Kevin to fill the BJax role and Kenny to fill the big guy points and banging guy. Or maybe Cisco for either role.

That's why I think we should get a swingman or combo SG/SF player.

Also, Trade KT if he keeps playing bad.

Don't think that's what he meant.

We have no star, no centerpiece, no guy straw to stir the drink and provide orgnaization and personality to our pile of scorers. Not about a guy being a potent scorer. About a guy being the player where the buck stops. Ben Wallace serves that role, and he can't score a lick. Ditto Nash.

The problem is that those are the rarest pieces in basketball, and immensely hard to acquire. You can get Shareefs and Bonzis without too much trouble. But getting a main man? A star to build a team's persona around? We can be a pretty good team without one. But we'll never matter. There's not a great team in history where you couldn't identify its heart.

I think Reef can be that guy.. He can cause headaches by posting up. He has alot of moves around the basket and from 10 to 15 feet he can drive it to the hoop. But even go-to guys need some help. MJ needed Pippen, Magic needed Jabbar and so-on. Just give Reef some help and he can do it.
