I think this is going to be one of the best, if not the best, first round series this year...

seconded! I, for one, will enjoy Memphis beating up Blake Griffin and his reaction to it. this series will be intense as hell and both teams are kind of horrific matchups for each other. hopefully Memphis will figure out a way to get the ball out of Chris Paul's hands, because after that, there's really not a whole lot that the Clippers can do offensively. weird how it only took a season for me to start hating both LA teams, btw.

I said the Clippers would advance, but I'm rooting for the Grizzlies all the way. I hate, detest, abhor and am repulsed by Blake Griffin, who has managed in 1 year to attain a level on my list that is generally reserved solely for members of the other LA team.

Ditto!

GO GRIZZLIES!!!

I agree with VF here. I hate Flop City, and hope Mem pounds them in every which way.

Also think Mem takes this series barring injuries.

And to make the evening complete, Chris Webber is doing the color commentary!

Sure hope the Grizz can keep Griffin outside, forced to lob threes. And nice move on help defense by Gasol. I'm liking this Grizzlies team.

Move of the night by Zach Randolph! Griffin collides with Randolph, who goes to the floor, stays there a minute and then, just as the crowd is starting to fear the worst, does a couple of push-ups. Meanwhile, Griffin actually started to feign some kind of injury but didn't get the attention because of Randolph and gave up the attempt.

Key to beating the LA Clippers:

Get Blake Griffin two early fouls so VDN will sit him down. While I like seeing it from a Memphis POV, I think Griffin needs to learn how to play with a couple of fouls early on.

this has been fun so far. the Grizz have been beating up on the Clippers in pretty much every way there is and taken away everything they want to do on offense.

But, as CWebb just pointed out, there are two halves to the game. I want to see how the Grizzlies finish out this half. I sure don't like seeing LAC close the gap with little to no effort.

Totally O/T question: Is it me or do the lower level seats in FedEx look as steep as the nose-bleed sections of PBP?

Um... Never mind.

Griffin with four fouls with about 45 minutes left in the 3rd. Sure would LOVE to see him get that 5th one here soon. GO GRIZZ!!!

I say, god damn. One team's dramatic comeback is another team's back-breaking choke job.

Why did Memphis spend the whole fourth quarter taking jumpers, when they had RANDOLPH AND GASOL STANDING RIGHT THERE?

Ah, but if you read some of the other threads around here, it's all about being able to take a jumpshot.

...

/end sarcasm

Seriously, I think the Grizzlies suffered from doing too well in the first part of the game. When things got tough, they panicked and quit doing what had got them ahead in the first place.

Just got home, read this thread and saw your post. Got that sinking feeling in my stomach... then went to ESPN and saw the whole story.

One word. ----> DISGUSTING.

Oh, there are other words:

putrid
vomitable
nauseating
puke-inducing

See, the list goes on...

Maybe they were intimidated by Blake Griffin's awe-inspiring defensive prowess.

Not really surprising, seeing how Memphis was shooting 71% during the rout. Once their shots stopped falling in, they were doomed.

And.... really, with 9 seconds to go the best they can come with after a timeout is a bad iso play for the win? No screens, nothing... just inbound, clear out, iso, and go 1 on 5 ... REALLY??

Surprising how many people are, well, surprised, at the Memphis Meltdown. I mean, it's not like a comeback has taken place before in the NBA. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not trying to be a douche, but, at the end of the day, this is the NBA, and in order to cut it and make it big in the NBA, you gotta put forth your absolute best effort pretty much for the entire 48 minute duration of a playoff game. Memphis got that big lead, assumed all's well, and forgot about the dude we call Air Blake. Once Air Blake took off, them Grizzlies landed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, and sunk in the process...

Why are you giving credit to Air Flake?

Agreed. If anything, there needs to be at least passing mention of Reggie Evans. CWebb pointed out that it was his effort that turned the whole thing around, not Griffin.
