Going forward, I offer my services as "a voice of the people", should they want to run some ideas by me before going through with them.![]()
You and Brick have it exactly right -
with this FO, it is more vital than ever to be very vocal, and consistent with the fans' message about the team (coaching, players, etc).
It's not like the fans can force the FO to do something they are dead-set against, but the many decisions that could go either way, we need to be very vocal about.
Case in point: Derrick Williams.
This guy has done NOTHING with his career.
I don't care if he turns it on the last couple months of this season and is remotely productive - I don;t want that clueless no-IQ loser anywhere near this team in the future.
We HAVE to be vigilant and aggressive, week after week, to ensure this FO does not involve William in any future plans in the organization.
He is the exact kind of wrong-headed move that will suck precious resources from the organization if the FO is allowed to think he is useful in any way.
I'm still confused how some people think Corbin was "more experienced" than Malone.
If you were to create the prototypical coach will the background/pedigree, Malone's lineage creates the exact arc you would be looking for. Stops under multiple coaches, with multiple responsibilities, and consistently achieving results defensively.
Seriously, it's indefensible.
Nothing in Corbin's history shows that he would be an upgrade. Assistant coach in one place, then took over as HC and bombed.
Malone was a more experienced coach, even absent the HC title. Unlike our other failed coaches, he'll be employed shortly.
It's not that hard to manipulate this board to a certain point of view, or to end discussions.
I shut down the Thanks Ty thread today already.
The only surprising thing about that is that it took so long.
...The Kings control what even a super-fan like Carmichael Dave says, because if he gets out of line with the Party Message, he'll have his access revoked and he'll be podcasting out of his garage again, post haste.
I agree that you may be right about the second one, but I'm pretty sure the first guy you were talking about was posting for years before that. The spelling of the name has always bugged me.
I don't think Android King is PDA he has post's going back to discussing Jon Brockman.
I guess he really does think 10 moves ahead.
That was not a traditional thank you thread. OP included "can't coach for ****."I don't think it's anything to be proud of.
The "thank you" threads have been a long-standing tradition around here. I mourn the loss of civility and the idea that somehow it's de rigueur to make sure you put YOUR (speaking in general terms) opinion first ahead of tradition.
Ending discussions should not be what this board is all about. It never has been. Opinions matter from all sides of the spectrum. Spirited, heated, sometimes angry exchanges have led to a lot of incredibly interesting conversations. As long as people follow the basic rules of the board they should be allowed to make their comments. (Which is why, in all honesty, a couple of people are still around although most of their posts are soundly criticized.)
Groupthink was the downfall of more than one Kings board. I'd like to believe that KF can continue to be a leader in being above all that.
That is not my case. I am 100% sure they (Vivek/FO) don't even know I exist. They may in fact be using you to get the FO perspective out there. Just beware. Nothing would surprise me at this point.
A plant doesn't have to be hired or paid specifically to be here. Can just merely be a connected person, already a Kings fan and member here, fed information, knowing they'll spew it online. That seems to be confirmed.
Corbin might not be a winning coach, but facts will show you that Corbin had been a head coach in the NBA.I'm still confused how some people think Corbin was "more experienced" than Malone.

Here's the thing, I have no problem with Malone being fired, but they should've immediately brought George Karl in.
I think Malone did a terrible job coaching down the stretch. You can blame the players all you want for this, but Malone didn't know how to coach when there were 5 minutes left in the game. His game plan always let the opposing team come back and get a crack at the lead. The offense we saw at the beginning of the game completely goes away into all ISO selfish basketball in the last 2 minutes.
I remember I was highly upset at Malone for running consecutive iso plays for Rudy back to back where he basically lost us the game. I believe it was in a stretch of 2-3 games where Malone kept going to Rudy on the iso which resulted in nothing down the stretch. I think it was the Houston game specifically. There was a minute left and we were up 3 and the ball was passed to Rudy and he dribbled down the clock and took a terrible 3pter. No plays ran at all. Harden comes back at ties it with a 3. 20s left and yet again..Rudy with the ball as he dribbles down the clock.. not only takes a poor shot and misses, he leaves 1s left for the Rockets.. in OT, Malone let Rudy continue with his isos. Those are just his examples of terrible coaching in the last few minutes. Yes Cousins was out, but you have to play to win. We weren't doing that vs weak competition. Last 10 games as a coach, he went 2-8.
I have no firing with his coaching because I don't believe he was a very good all around coach, but the FO should've brought Karl in immediately. I think if they did, fans would see the Malone firing as the coach not reaching the heights we want it to, so we bring in a better coach. I don't think they should crowd source on things like this, but I believe they saw the same things I did. A mediocre coach who couldn't close out games on top of other problems they had with him. My only question would be, why didn't they bring in Karl as soon as possible?
You have to maximize with what you have. If you know your bench struggles, why would you take out all your starters at the same time? You can't justify taking Rudy, Cuz, and Collison off the floor. You need at least one of them on the floor when the bench is in. At least for a minute.. but he took them all out at the same time. There are hardly any coaches out there who sub all of their main guys out at the same time. That's a poor coaching mistake.I will take exception with your opinion of Malone as Coach. Because of the hot start the talent on the Kings was over rated by some people. Early this season when all five starters played together and played their A games the Kings were very good. When Cousins, Gay and Collison missed games they were not very good. Anytime the bench was in they were not very good.
Who on the bench contributed? Casspi had some good games and that is about it. Sessions is having a career worst season. Ray was very spotty early on. Stauskas has been overwhelmed by the talent leap from Michigan to the NBA. DWill had a couple flashes but mostly was not there when needed. Landry started the season slow.
So outside of the starters, who does that leave to score the ball? No one...........................crickets............................wind blowing dust around cacti....................................................
So while you find fault in Malone's offensive scheme I find it amazing that he got those results out of so little production from his bench.
You put down sending Rudy on an ISO. Well who exactly is going to score? Hey I love a good passing play that leads the other team to misdirect their defense. But at some point a player has to put the ball in the hole.
IMO the issue early this season was not the coaching staff. Certainly not the Starting Five. I don't even find fault with the bench. THE FAULT lies 100% at the feet of Pete and his Front Office for failing to have 3 bench players they needed.
1) A wing scorer off the bench. Jamal Crawford is my prototype here. IT would have been perfect. Kevin Martin would be awesome. Guys like JJ Barea and Nate Robinson are a couple other names. You need somebody to score the ball outside your main guys.
2) A wing defender like Tony Allen. We all thought Luc Mbah Moute was that guy and when healthy and here, he was. Heck Toney Douglas was a one time King and available. Point to the Defensive Aces on the Kings bench?????
3) A Big who can defend. Ideally a shot blocker but a low post banger would suffice. Reggie Evans can play this role but he lacks size for the Big Centers. I liked Cole Aldrich in this role and he was a one time King. Sad to think Mister 4 moves ahead had his mitts on Robin Lopez and Jeff Withey.
IMO Pete let Malone down by failing to staff the bench. So obviously I disagree with you on Malone
Going forward I agree that Karl should be able to show some improvement over the Corbin era by stressing Defense, riding the Starting Five and using his extensive coaching experience to get something from the bench players. If he is able to match or exceed what Malone did when he had all his players I will be doubly impressed.
The one caveat in all this is what does Pete do between now and Feb 20???? He must not weaken the teams ability to play good defense and he needs to add a bench scorer.
Unfortunately for us and Malone, a few years is a long time for Vivek/FO. The new arena cannot wait that long too and DMC is watching. Can't believe a heated discussion about Malone. Let's tune in 5 years from now. I think offensively he was not so hot but he proved to me that a great defensive coach can teach defense to a group of guys who weren't so interested. He proved that if you have a great defense, you can go a long ways. He proved you needed a defense. I cringed at some of his substitutions but was willing to wait a few years and see how he evolved on the offensive side of the ball. He might be great.

Well to me, James Ham is kinda mainstream and it is no different than questioning Bruski or Amick. I don't find it easy to post nor follow discussions on CK
I know to some he is maybe just a blogger and it wild be like if the guys on CK were over there trying to parse the meaning of a bricklayer post here. But I don't look at it that way

You're the only person I know that prefers Malone over Karl..makes it even more odd that you're a jazz fan first lol. Yes it might've been nice to see what Malone would've done until the end of the year, but the team is ready to move on with a HOF coach.
The most important person in this team is actually not a coach, not PDA, even not Vivek, but DMC (ok, until Vivek makes decision to trade him). Malone had very good relations with DMC, Karl is certainly much more proven coach but if things will not work well between them team will not succeed.
