[Trade] Warriors have obvious Jonathan Kuminga trade demand after latest Kings reports

Ah, the ole' Catch-22 clause... If they want to be in Sacramento there must be something wrong with them. And if there's something wrong with them, should Sacramento even want them? I'm not above self-pity, but we do have to draw a line somewhere and wanting out of Golden State surely shows that Kuminga is a man of exceptional taste or at least we share a mutual disdain for Kerr, Curry, and Draymond.

The trouble is, Sabonis might be the level of player who is just good enough to keep this team perpetually in no man's land -- not good enough to contend and not bad enough to escape mediocrity. Kuminga is a big swing and may ultimately end up being a miss but I don't see a realistic path toward contention that doesn't involve trading Sabonis and suffering through at least one last place season. I'd rather we get a young big for Sabonis but GS just dropped below .500 and may be desperate enough to throw in multiple picks to fix their front court issues.

We're currently 5-17 with 60 games left to go in this season but we haven't seen Keegan and Domas share the court yet. With both of those guys healthy I don't think we're likely to be in position to draft Caleb Wilson. The Kings' easiest stretch of the season looks like March to April so we're poised for another late season surge while the tanking teams all pass us and that would put us right back in the same situation next season, still backed into a corner trying to elevate the team defense around a slow-footed 6'10" center with short arms and very little vertical lift. And given the way his offensive impact has also dropped off in the post-Mike Brown era without the dribble hand-off structure in place, we run the risk of cratering Sabonis' value even further by holding onto him another year.

I could see players that don't need to be the center of attention thinking Sacramento could look attractive during the beam team years but right now it's about as unattractive a franchise as there is. You're pretty much signing here with the expectation to lose and the slight hope to maybe win in a few years. There's plenty of other destinations where you get to win right now and most likely in a few years as well.

With regards to something being wrong with them....well that's clearly how we got started with Webber during the glory years. Obviously it doesn't work every time but it's a risk that this franchise should be taking more often than other franchises do.

Fox and Haliburton both initially expressed enthusiasm about being the ones to turn things around in Sacramento. This franchise does have some history worth remembering after all. And I could see the appeal for a young player who has been forced to play backup to a group of veterans who all came up at the same time and formed their tight-knit unit long ago to break free from the limited role he's been shoe-horned into and start to build that kind of a unit himself with teammates who are closer to his age and experience level.

We do have to remember that we're plugged in to the day-to-day details of how this franchise is run a lot more than anyone who is outside of this market and fanbase would have reason to be. Even folks who are employed by the NBA are probably not paying a whole lot of attention to Sacramento other than the macro level of who is on the sideline, who is on the roster, wins and losses, and those 2 or 3 times a year that they play against us.

On defense. He's slow-footed on defense. It's one thing to be quick with the ball, when you are in control of the action. Moving quickly and purposefully in reaction is a different skill.

For a big he's really not though. He moves very well for his size. We'd have to see him with a legit guard defender on the ball so that he isn't having to consistently help in the paint. He's got decent feet, but he doesn't cover a lot of ground from the feet up. If he goes a to a team without such a gaping wound defensively at PG/SG and has some versatile defenders that can switch he might look quite a bit different to people.

For the Kings of course, but Collins when given a chance while he has shown decent numbers. it never remotely translated to value around the league.

That said, I see him as a good fit between Murray and Sabonis. Afterall, you don't usually pick up these kinds of vets at an affordable cost, if everything has gone really well for them. Doug Christie and Bobby Jackson would be examples of this

Well here's where his penchant for "playing through injury" may be working against him then. I've seen him move his feet really well on defense too but when I think back on it, that was 2 years ago. I haven't seen it as much lately.

Got benched last night and didn’t play in the first today and these idiots turned down a first round pick plus monk/carter

If NO has no interest in a Kuminga for Herb Jones swap the best they’ll do is Monk and a second for him. That’s assuming perry isn’t an absolute moron to offer a first or Carter for someone that’s not playing

The universe is clearly setting up some kind of Kuminga for LaVine deal. And the Kings will still probably come out losers in it, just watch, lol.
If this is what it takes to get Devin Carter initiated with 8 minutes of playing time, then this needs to happen. The "universe" works in mysterious ways :D

At some point you have to wonder how much Kuminga is at fault for all this AND whether or not he's actually conducive to winning basketball.

GS should have sold when he had a higher market. I wouldn't give up much of anything for him now.

I don’t think the IQ is there on either end. You have a 6’7 guy, super athletic and talented but can’t get on the court? That’s a huge red flag.

Get fricked GS.

Not only get him for cheaper, but now just guarantee he has hate in his heart for GS the rest of his career.

I'd be surprised if they went Monk over DDR though. DDR keeps their cap sheet clean for 27 and he's a better fit off their bench to carry their 2nd unit with what they already have in town

Knowing you coach won’t play him and you could get a playmaker and a first and not doing it is wild. Then again that idiot fan base is still throwing out Kuminga for Murphy trades and saying podz isn’t going anywhere

It really made no sense to me why they just held Kuminga. They have so few years left where Steph is capable of leading a title team; why would they head into a season with an obvious problem and a guy who simply isn't wanted in that building and no longer wants to be in the building. Them wanting to "up" his value made no sense either because they already telegraphed they were beyond done with him and had no intention of keeping the relationship going long-term.

But likely works out for us and we'll hopefully get to take a real flier on Kuminga for a cheap cost

I think the primary reason was, a sign and trade hard capped them. It limited their flexibility, so it probably was just never on the table.

I’m not sure a trade to the Kings makes sense from the Warriors perspective. I don’t think the Kings can do Deebo for Kuminga because that puts them in tax trouble (next year) unless Lavine opts out. I’d have to think that a Kuminga for MPJ trade makes the most sense. Nets get a crack at developing an all star and maybe a trade piece in a potential off season trade for Giannis. Warriors get a better fit for their roster with championship experience

Yeah I'm not excited about Kuminga at all, but if he destroys his trade value to the point where we can get him for Deebo plus a future 2nd or something like that I wouldn't mind.

Honestly even if we traded a guy like Carter for him I'd be little miffed haha
