Wait list for NBA Kings tickets is 500-plus

You are obviously stretching it a bit to say the least. They started a list for the Kings' possible move 20 yrs ago? NO. This is for the current situation.

They had a waiting list for an NBA team that pre-dated a vote that OK'd the bond issue. As to when that list started, I don't know. It was years ago. Not sure if any of this is important.

It was from the Anaheim city council meeting. One person said they started a list when the building was being built and he was like number 360 on the list. He said that list should take priority over a list being generated now. He was the one who said it was 20 years ago.

or #368. Something like that. Maybe we should re-watch the Council meeting to be real sure about this and bring a conclusion to this.

So it just confirms what I said. The list they started now after having an actual prospect located is different than when its just a random list with no real chance of a team 20 years ago. I was telling you the people signing on this list is different because now they know it would be the Kings and there is actually a good chance instead of just pipe dream.

And it could be the same people on both lists because nobody knows what happened to the first one. Still they started the list a few days ago and 500 isnt squat.

500 within 24 hrs for a team that hasn't even filed is huge in my opinion. I suspect that even if the list is at 5000 you would still find a negative spin to it. So there is no point to go on with this subject.

Also it's just a list. They haven't seen the prices yet either.

No, huge is over $200,000 in pledges from fans to build a new arena in like 48 hours from some guys who are really just fans. Huge is getting $1,000 pledge from higher up Maloof employees to this effort. The only thing huge fan support in OC is the following the Lakers have. Tell me that if the Lakers were moving to Anaheim, that 500 number would be huge...

LOL I remember back in 05 and 06 when the season ticket wait list easily was like 6 or 7 times longer than that atleast. These anaheim fans are pathetic. They cant even get more than 500 people interested? That's a friggin joke.

The Angels draw 3 million fans a season. The fans in Anaheim are not pathetic, the maloofs are pathetic.

New O.C. Register article mentions Phil Jackson back tracking on his comments and interest for tickets:

Ticket demand: A Honda Center spokesman said the arena switchboard phones haven't stopped ringing since the Anaheim City Council approved the funding for up to $75 million in lease-revenue bonds that will help pave the way for the Kings' move.

In the first 48 hours, more than 900 people interested in NBA tickets had left their names and contact information on a special Web site: waitlist@hondacenter.com.

Ducks season-ticket holders also will have the right to purchase their existing seats, according to the new venue agreement approved by the City Council. If you assume half of the season-ticket holders will want NBA tickets, that the wait-list customers will purchase an average of four tickets, and that all of the 1,715 all-event club seats and 84 luxury-suite holders will pick up their options, the estimated demand in the
first 48 hours exceeded 10,000 seats. And the team hasn't filed for relocation yet.

The maloofs are screwed.
How do they expect to buy a good squad when they are butt arse broke. After the reloacation fees and the sacramento loan they have to worry about attracting top flight free agents. Where does that money come from? The maloofs have also borrowed millions from the NBA. Does anyone know if they have to pay that back or was that a gift? They are bleeding money. And if they don't turn this team around quick SoCal fans will bail on them in a jiffy.

Samuelli will own this team in under 5 years and I think thats a good thing. The kings need a smart business man running this franchise.

Samueli is a convicted felon. I posted an article here in the forum about a week ago or so regarding what he did. He's not smart. He's an idiot.

So far he's been smart (and rich) enough to avoid prison.
He's been smart enough to not overextend himself like the maloofs. He's gonna weather this recession just fine. And he'll probably end up with an NBA team. Good for him.

I guess in that regard he is smart. :D

500? That's a total joke. I've seen relo attempts where the new host city had to prove itself with something on the order of 10,000 names with small deposits put down. 500? That's a freaking joke.

He's also way richer than the whole Maloof family has ever been. There are quite a few NBA and pro sports team owners richer that the Maloof family.

If we had a new arena here even with a bad team I assume we would have 10k-13k on a list right off. NOW if the team was a GOOD team it would be a wait list to get season tickets like there was in the early 2000s.
