Doesn't make it the best move but the quote I took away the most was he no longer wanted to be a treadmill team because that's what the team was with Cousins. Time will tell to see how the Kings fared with this deal but one thing was certain, the Kings simply didn't have enough assets around Boogie to make this team a legit playoff contender in the present or in the future so I can understand the thinking here.
WT actual F?!?
I am sick to death of this narrative, that the Kings tried for years to put talent around Boogie and make a run for the playoffs.
It's an out-right LIE, proven false by history.
For years, the FO deliberately tanked to get draft picks.
Then, all of TWO YEARS AGO, they finally made head-way and put the league on notice and looked to be headed to the playoffs in a rocket.... and then Vivek sabotaged it by firing Malone.
They wasted that year AND THE NEXT by hiring a washed-up, over-the-hill snake in the grass who didn't want Demarcus on the team from the get-go. Oh yeah, the FO completely ignored their star Demarcus telling them exactly that before the hire.
Seriously, the franchise would have been better off if they had simply let Demarcus make all the basketball decisions the last two years.
I'm not kidding in the slightest.
Then, with the Kings playing competitive basketball (even with a decimated roster!) for (almost) the first time in 10 years, they choose to sabotage the season AGAIN when they were 1 game out of playoffs with easily-winnable games coming up, and players about to get healthy again.
It enrages me that the narrative the fanbase will remember is that "The Kings would never have won with Demarcus. They tried for years and it just wasn;t going to work out."
Yeah, because they kept sabotaging Demarcus' team, then traded him right as they were about to make it!
Then, once they made the playoffs and started getting attention
for the right reasons, better players might just want to start joining the team.
How hard is it to remember what actually went on here with this team?
I guess it's really damn hard for people to remember things right when they are constantly lied to and manipulated by serial slanderer Napear for >20 hours a week, year-in year-out.
