Viewing Party Plans for Finals

#1
From what I've been told, an official announcement from MS&E should be imminent about the parties they have planned for the Finals. "Imminent" might be a relative term. To me it means hopefully by this afternoon so people can have a chance to make plans to be there but I dunno. I will leave my comments at that. ;)

Reminder about the game times, they changed for some reason on Sunday when the Shock clinched. Tip for both Game 1 on Weds and Game 2 on Friday will be at 4:30pm PDT. It appears that the location for Weds' party will be downtown, so let that factor into your plans as well.

Nancgo had mentioned to me that Club21 has plans to continue their viewing parties for the Finals as well and they are in midtown.

Any other plans or places? Let's post them here so's folks can have an opportunity to go where ever may be closest or most convenient, these early tips are a little rough.

As soon as MS&E releases their plans for games 1 and 2, I'll try to post them here, but if somebody else gets the notice first please drop it here.

Monarchs Playoffs 2006..."We Run This"

Shock don't want it, 'cause Monarchs Run It!

5pm games would have been nice huh? Game 4 is slated to be a 9p game for the folks back east so I guess they sorta tried to comprise. Sorta.

I'm gonna try to get out of the office as soon as I can, but that might not be til close to 5. But I'll see what I can do.

Thanks MamaB

Here's the location for MS&E's viewing party for Friday's game.

Tipping @ 4:30pm

Lucca Restaurant and Bar
1615 J Street
Sacramento, CA 95814

I highly highly highly recommend Lucca's zucchini chips. FA-BU-LOUS!!

I HATE this 4:30 in the afternoon crap. When I get off at 5:00 and then fight traffic to get downtown; find a place to park; the dang game is already more than half over. They have the nerve to say, "plan on arriving early."

I will probably just head home. At least I will only miss the first half.

Dagnabit, why do those pesky Eastern games have to start so early....I know why, just venting.

Eastern folks are also probably saying, "Why do those f___ing Western games have to start so f____ing late? 8:30 or 9:00? By the time the game is over, it's way past my bedtime!"

If I were in the East, then at least it is my choice about whether to stay up and watch the game. When they start the games before folks in the West are even home from work, where is the choice in that if we cannot get off work early?

Exactly. And for those of us who have other things after work to attend to, it's really tough. I'm going to miss most of this series because of that. At least I'll get to see Sunday's game, and if they go past that as I selfishly hope, I will be at Wednesday's game.

Since the entire WNBA Finals series is on ESPN-2, I don't see why Mandango's wouldn't show it, even if you asked them. (Unless their staff or management have a negative attitude toward women's sports, like the Barbacoa Breeze does.)

That is what I was getting at. My friends and I usually go to lunch on Sunday, and this time I thought we'd go to Mandango's. However, if they have that attitude, I won't even try.

You have a choice to tape it or get off from work early.

Tip off time

The game yesterday was slated to start per the tv guide at 5:00pm
with shoot around at 4:30. However what actually happened was the shoot around lasted about 15 minutes so tip off was at 4:45. Look for it to be the same tomorrow (Friday).
Can We All Be Happy We Are In The Finals and Stop The Complaining?
TIVO/Tape it. I rewatch games all the time even when I know the final outcome to see all the plays I missed even when I am watching the game in real time. Tune in Kozimor on your way to the bar or home. You know how
entertaining he is!!!!

Wow. now I REALLY have Tivo-envy. The best I can do is a 160 vhs tape which give me 140 minutes at best quality (SP). That doesn't do much for a 4:30-7:00 warmup and game, which works out to be 150 minutes! Darn commercials, anyway.

I know, I know, lower the taping speed/quality or skip the warmup.

I listen to 1140 on the way home...

I listened to 1140 on the way home too, even though the game had already started by the time I reached my car at 5:05. The point is, I should not have to listen to the game on the radio, when my team is playing in the WNBA finals and it is on ESPN2. The early start time for West coast fans still sucks. And, I will complain if I want. Thank you!!

I think its a valid complaint. People back east can stay up or record it. Getting off work is just not a choice for many people, because they cannot afford to do so. And I can't record. A method for recoring is an expense I forego right now. I pay for expanded cable, the internet and and a cell phone. Those are all the luxury "extras" I can deal with right now. Yes folks, those are unnecessary luxuries.

Anyway, the eastern folks have one totally "free" choice (if they get ESPN2, that is)...stay up late. Western folks have no "free" choice.

I wasn't trying to be rude when I said you have a choice by either taping it or leaving work early, however, if you want to be rude with my suggestions, that's your choice.
