I have noticed that after Vasquez makes the first pass, there are two things that may happen:
a) He cots through the middle, and then comes back up, ask for the ball again, get the ball, and makes a second pass after some dribbling with 5 to 10 seconds left.
b) He moves slowly to the left wing and stays there waiting for an after penetration pass that never happens, or
When you look at the quality of shots (regardless of whether we make them or not), that we get in these two situations, you realize that we get much better shots when the ball goes through Vasquez ‘s hands twice. The interesting thing here, is that what defines if Vasquez gets a second pass or not is his attitude. When he is playing with high intensity, he almost always cuts and comes back to the middle to get the second pass. When he is playing flat, he just hoovers on the left wing and looks at the play.
I really think that someone should tell him to stop waiting to take a 3 shot from the wing in a passive way, and keep up the energy by coming back and asking for the ball a second time in every possession.
