Update on ex-Monarch Cindy Blodgett

oh please.....this is bringing up bad memories of the past and this forum being overrun with rabid Blodgett fans who were extrememly rude and unpleasant. I never had to so much moderating as I did those two seasons, heh.

But really, thanks for this update. Sometimes I do wonder what has happened to Blodgett and other former Monarchs.

sheesh...the year BlodgettNation and the Clinesmith and Steding fans all collectively went nuts simultaneously on anybody who "failed to see their greatness" this forum was absolutely unbearable one season.

I'm glad tho that Blodgett gets a chance to cut her teeth in the coaching ranks.

Well, during the years when Blodgett was a Monarch, I was not a follower of the WNBA, let alone the Monarchs. So, I thought it might be interesting to see what became of the Monarchs players during those humbling and struggling early years, especially in light of the current Monarchs success we are enjoying so much these days.

As for the Blodgett fans...well, I don't think very many of them occupy the Monarchs message boards nowadays. I say: Let them infest the Brown University and Ivy League message boards. :)

It's funny that MBF mentioned Stacy Clinesmith and Katy Steding, because I was about to do some research on THEIR current whereabouts too! ;)

(For what it's worth, Clinesmith last played for the Springfield Spirit in the NWBL, back in '04. I have not heard anything about her since then. Ironically, Blodgett was Clinesmith's teammate at the time.)

Steven, although it was "difficult, shall we say?" around here with fans who were so rabid that they could have cared less for the Monarchs themselves, never let that stop you from finding info to pass on about current of former M's. I appreciate your efforts. Keep it up. And, thanks for the Blodgett info. It is always interesting to know where our girls move on to.

Agree with 6th, Steven, don't think that I didn't appreciate the update!!

MBF-we had rabid Clinesmith fans as well? I guess I don't remember them. I do remember the rabid Steding fans though, especially the guy who used to email and PM me after every single critical comment about her appeared here. I think he was an obsessed stalker. I wonder if these fans have ever gotten over their gal's lack of success in the WNBA.

The Steding fan guy who PM'ed you every day musta been the guy I was ready to hop on a plane to Oregon so I could punch him one night, and I rarely get that worked up by someone going negative on me. And the most critical thing I ever said about Steding was she was hands down the best passing forward we have, I just wish she would take a shot every once and a while.

Clinesmith had her obsessional groupies too, there just weren't as many of them and they didn't get reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly obnoxious until the season McHugh left her off the playoff roster in favor of Dana Wynne or some other big body post player we actually needed.

It probably was the same guy. I remember he first came onto the forum and announced himself as the president of Steding's fan club back in Oregon. Then he went ballistic with the emails and PM's whenever his gal received any kind of criticism, even if it was slight. Dealing with him and the Blodgett fans that summer, I was about ready to resign my moderator position, they were driving me nuts so much! At that time, the forum was still new and the rules weren't as strict as they are today, so people got away with a lot more bad behavior. If anyone tried to pull that crap today, I would send Lady Poof after them!
