Under the radar

Fresno King

Starter

This would be a very small piece of the puzzle, but Noel Felix (Fresno State) is what Musselman is looking for: a defensive-oriented frontcourt player. And, he's worked his way up to the NBA just like E-Muss. A 6-9 power forward that blocked Yao Ming's shot point blank. And, of course, he's a Fresno guy, so I automatically like him. :) Seattle has a lot of frontcourt players, so maybe this is doable for the Kings. He'd be a lot better and cheaper than Songaila! Perhaps Felix for a future second round pick and/or cash.

BIO:

Something of a late bloomer, Felix has been able to translate his athleticism to the pro game following his college career at Fresno State that left him undrafted in 2003. After splitting 2003-04 between China and the CBA, Felix spent time with three teams in 2004-05, playing in Italy, the Philippines and the CBA. He was named to the CBA All-Defensive Team after averaging 15.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks for the Yakima Sun Kings. Felix played for the Sonics summer-league squad in the Rocky Mountain Revue in July 2005, averaging 8.2 points and 4.0 rebounds. Afterwards, he played for the USA Basketball World Championships qualifying team. He's a good athlete who has consistently excelled at the defensive end of the court.

He hasn't really proven anything yet in the NBA, from what I know... doubt we get him, since we have the camp bigs to look at for our third big men. If he was in our camp, or none of the guys from camp make it, then I'd consider him as a third SF/PF later on in the summer. We have to work him out first and stuff.

I like his athleticism and seems like a good hustle guy and defender.

Really don't think he's worth a R2 pick, and cash.

I was actually surprised to see Felix make it as far as he has. That said, Justin Williams is a MUCH better prospect.
