Tyreke Evans on Shooting Stars Team

Tyreke will be teaming up with Chris Webber and Nicole Powell to represent Sacramento in the Haier Shooting Stars competition during All-Star weekend.

Team Sacramento is represented by the Kings’ Tyreke Evans, who has won two Western Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month awards, and who headlines the 2010 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam Rookie Team; TNT and NBA TV analyst Chris Webber, a five-time All-Star, who averaged 20.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists over a 15-year career; and Nicole Powell, currently with the New York Liberty, who was a first-time WNBA All-Star in 2009 with the Sacramento Monarchs.

Tyreke is taking All-Star weekend by storm!! Congrats Reke!!!!

I'm all for the Kings being represented and getting more exposure for our budding star, but Tyreke in a "shooting" challenge?? Really? That's probably the weakest part of his game right now. Martin probably would have been a better pick for that.

Right now, Martin wouldn't be a better pick to shoot anything, even just shoot the ****.

Now since when did AM figure out how to hack accounts? :p

You're right of course (just like AM is right a lot of the times too. He just riles too many feathers here).

Still, it's good to see Sac get some additional exposure, and I'll be excited to see Webb back on the court. After all, he was the reason we got Tyreke.

That's a silly selection, and one he really should have turned down if possible. I know the league wants the highest profile King it can get, but that joke of a thing is designed perfectly to play to his weaknesses and make him look bad. Send Kevin to let him get a little All Star flav.

Brick agrees to..SEE!! I'm not so crazy haha. Martin is still the best pure shooter on the team right now. That may, or may not be saying much, but it is, what it is right now.

that's right -- I forgot the whole thing with that competition was to include the WNBA players as well...but given that the Maloofs just dropped the WNBA franchise in the offseason is it not?

It's easy enough to hide a non-shooter in that competition. There's a side angle pop, a free throw, a 20 foot jumper, and a 3. After that, it's just when and if someone hits a half court shot. I think the more times Reke's face is shown on national TV, the better. And I love the Webber-Reke "torch passing" aspect of it.

On a side note ... maybe the NBA wanted Kevin, but was afraid of publicizing Kevin as part of that and then by chance him not being a King come that weekend.

The premise isn't that these are among the best shooters around, or else past performers wouldn't have included Chris "Mendoza Line" Duhon.

Seriously, one year it was Tim Duncan, David Robinson, and some random WNBA player. How many of us are ACTUALLY going to watch this anyway? I know I'm not. I'd rather watch a WNBA game. This doesn't matter in the slightest, and if anything, I'm glad Tyreke got another event to do. I wish he was in the Skills challenge.

If anything it will give Tyreke some extra practice with his stroke. Shooting on the national stage could be the thing to get his shot consistent. At least, that's what I'm hoping.

I watch all of the "competiitions" for All Star weekend, and don't usually watch the game, so I'll be watching this one, along with the skills competition, dunk contest, 3 pt contest, and this year I'll watch the Rookie/Soph game.

I'll only watch the All Star game if I'm literally not doing anything else

The sad thing about this is that Sacramento got skipped over in every event of the past however many All-Star games and now that Omri and Reke are getting some attention back in Sacramento, enough to put us in one of these All-Star weekend sideshows (which tend to be more fun than the actual game I think, but maybe that's just me) and we don't even have the WNBA team anymore so they have to bring Nicole Powell in from the New York Liberty and have her probably dig up a Monarchs jersey out of mothballs and salt the fresh wounds a little more. Classy.

That would be Becky Hammon -- probably the best PG in the WNBA right now (though you could argue Sue Bird as well).

Tyreke and Webber on the same team...how could you NOT watch it??? Its not so much about the event, its about the Kings getting some national attention (especially our franchise player). Every event @ all star weekend is practically a joke these days, including the game itself. This is about supporting our team and Tyreke. Its been awhile since we have seen the Kings involved at All-Star weekend, so its good to see us back in the mix!

yeah, there is that. Love that Webb has taken an active interest in Reke.

Thats my favorite part of it. I know its just silly games, but the Kings haven't had any exposure in the All-Star weekend since Peja and the 3 point contest. I always love to see my Kings win, silly games or not.

How can anyone be complaining about Reke getting more exposure? So what if it's a shooting competition... It's not like his shots are gonna be so bad that he'll be throwing them over the backboard.

Nicole Powell will be carrying that team :D And looking at the competition...well its all in fun, I'll watch! :)

I posted the same thing on Twitter. Nicole Powell is the best long ball shooter on our team. Watch out for San Antonio. Becky Hammon hit her 1st attempt at the half court shot last year or the year before.

Considering we also have Webb as the other guy on the team, I'm pretty sure we aren't too concerned with actually winning this shot contest.

Yeah I agree Kevin may try to draw the foul going up and whine at the refs for not getting it. Congrats reke
