Two arena proposals strengthen their teams

The Sacramento Business Journal wrote a much better article than what the Sacramento Bee wrote. What a surprise huh?

Some key notes of interest:

"The group will have updated materials for the arena task force’s Dec. 30 deadline and a complete revised proposal, including a financing plan, for the city in January, Kamilos said Wednesday."

“We need to have a highly experienced team that can deal with the multifaceted issues with this type of project,” Kamilos said. It’s all about the financing and being able to offer financing terms that satisfy the community and the project stakeholders, he added."

"The task force will publicly reveal the proposals by 5 p.m. Dec. 30 and hold a public hearing on the proposals Jan. 6. On Jan. 21, the task force will submit its analysis to the mayor and City Council."

We need to keep an eye on Nevada, too. Their state legislature is just weeks away from funding an arena near Harrah's, on the strip.

Between Seattle, Louisville, Anaheim, San Jose, KC and possibly Vegas, plus the fact that the league has 2-4 more teams than it should right now, plus the situations in Memphis, New Orleans and Sacramento, I tell you, this league will come out of its lockout with some fairly major differences.

I personally doubt the Council will review everything by January 20 with an eye towards getting this done by March 1, but that's when the revolver for the Palms is due, and that's also when Arco's naming-rights end. There has never been more time pressure.
