Now, I don't normally do trade threads, but with all of the Ron speculation, I'd like to see us be really serious about rebuilding.

We go young in Gay who has the potential to put up 15/7 in a few years and go for even more on a good day. L.A. gets Ron and sheds Maggette, but loses a 1st rounder. The problem is convincing Memphis to do this.
I think that Memphis needs to win now with Pau Gasol being 27 next year, he is in his prime now. If you give them Maggette, they have a legitimate 1-2-3 punch on Offense between Pau, Maggette, and Miller. Nobody besides Pau can create their own shot on that team, and that is Maggette's selling point, a legitmate 20+ ppg scorer. They are also selling their team, so it's important to put a contender on the floor and I don't think they have time to wait for Gay to develop.
We turn Ron into Gay and Stro, though, and that is a HUGE downgrade. But if we're serious about rebuilding, this is what it has to take.
This is also on RealGM, but I wanted to know what you guys thought of it.
