is a pretty interesting team for the Clippers to be running while they wait for Kawhi to come back next season. They're still a little thin at the guard slot. With there being rumors of Morris/Ibaka being available, I wonder if they dangle one of Mann/Boston with them to try to get a vet guard from someone.

LOL. This is the opposite of competent ownership. This is saving money so you don't have to pay the luxury tax. Nothing to do with trying to get reset assets and build for the future.
This essentially the equivalent of us trading Harrison Barnes and Richaun Holmes for Keon Johnson and enders. Trash trade

I think we are losing plenty. Maybe we are not "tanking" but we are "stinking" enough for the difference to be inconsequential.

At this point I'm prepared for Buddy Hield to outdo Jason Thompson as the King we thought would get moved/replaced, but somehow stuck around for way more seasons than anyone expected.

It feels like New Orleans could end up with both picks this year just as easily as they could lose both picks.
Either way, of all the teams we've been linked with, I think New Orleans is our best chance at getting a solid return for either Fox and/or Barnes. If they're feeling pressure to give Zion a team NOW with his extension coming up they'll have to sacrifice some young players/picks to do it

The pick this year is reverse protected I believe. It only conveys of it's in the top 10, otherwise it's unprotected next year. So it depends on how far they fall. But I would say it's not outside the realm of possibility for it to convey this year.
Definitely a move for next year I think, but assuming PG comes back, I wouldn't rule out them making some noise this year. Suns and Warriors are in a tier of their own, but I don't think there's a huge gap in that next tier with Utah, Mem, Dallas, Denver, LAC, Twolves. They just got 2 starters for nothing, which is a serious talent influx to close that gap.
I like some of the potential trade ideas with the Pels, did get a kick out of the above mention of Jonas coming to Sac, recon he and Metu could have some real Kumbaya moments.
Is Barnes, Fox plus whatever considerations to make it happen enough to get BI, I’d think not but some other nice possibilities including FRP’s.

I don't think Randle would be worth 7-8 wins for the Kings, but one should realize that 7-8 wins from one player is a lot.
Yeah, that's like prime LeBron level impact so probably not too realistic of an expectation.

Yeah my main concern for the Clippers is that until Kawhi comes back and especially right now with PG out, they're still missing a bonafide iso scorer. Powell and Jackson aren't terrible in that regard but they still need one more grinder to help when their outside shots aren't falling.
They're probably hoping that that eventually becomes BJ Boston but for the next couple of years that's a big ask.
Randle's assist numbers are really good, 5 assists per 36 is huge out of a post player. That's legitimately peak Webber passing.
His shooting is really down this year, and from a quick-ish glance it looks like much of that is due to his jumpshot (at all distances) not falling as often as it did last year. Whether that means he is taking more contested shots, or whether it means that he's just missing, I don't know. If he can resurrect his shot, he can be a very, very effective player.
I'm not like head-over-heels for Randle, but he's on a somewhat cheaper contract than Fox, and I kind of have to believe that Haliburton-Randle-Mitchell-everybody else is a more balanced lineup than Fox-Haliburton-Mitchell-everybody else, at least if Randle plays up to previous expectations. (Remember Fox is having a down year too.) It's just a deal that seems to make sense for us, especially if we can get another cookie or so along with the deal. I'm not out here trying to deal away Fox like some are, but I recognize that we're an unbalanced roster and you've got to give something to get something. If you think you can compete right now, you probably hold Fox. But I don't see that, so holding Hali is probably the better build-for-2024 move.

Thus far, the 2021-2022 trade market is a bunch of teams putting players up for sale randomly deciding that they're going to get 5 FRPs and several stars for them and then balking when the market turns out to be a pick and salary filler or one good player and then the Blazers spazzing out and giving away assets for free.
