[NBA] Trade Deadline Season 2026 Open Thread

What the hell, just Miami or Minny?
Interesting that MIL has gone public with this and not another way around. But hey at least that's one better than the stupid pickle that one guy put us in. Also I think despite the fact this move is holding up other moves MIL would be best to wait until the offseason and trade into a known pick in 2026.

Someone give me the RJ Barrett rundown? This a Rudy Gay thing? Good scorer? Not a lot else. Not really a winner. But a guy who exists and is better in theory than he actually is:

I don't know much about him, except that a few Raptor fans I know are upset about losing him.

Apparently a really good cutter and high IQ offensive player, but can be a streaky and inconsistent shooter. I don't think you would want him to be your main offensive option (that is where he gets really inconsistent), but he has done well as a secondary or third scoring option.

Defensively I think he is a lot like Hunter. Good size and potential, but hasn't put it all together yet. Good instincts, but not consistent enough. He has good size if you play him at the 2, average at the 3.

You could build a fun team around Keegan/Hunter/Barrett playing the three wing positions, but you would probably need a Shai type point guard (someone who can be your lead scorer and "star") and a rim protector big. For instance, if you could pair that trio with Darryn Peterson, you might be looking at something long term. Potential 2026 roster of:

Cardwell/Max
Keegan/Precious
Hunter/Clifford
Barrett/Monk
Peterson/Carter

Obviously that is assuming you get off DeRozan, and it doesn't account for Lavine, but that would be your "core," with the idea that you are hopefully looking to upgrade some of those pieces over time.

Andrew Wiggins on GS. Inefficient chucker who's a pretty big negative early in his career and has developed into a 2-way starting wing now.

I think the biggest factor is that GM Perry drafted him back in 2019 and has always been high on him. Sam Amick noted in a recent 1140 interview that during the Raptors’ recent visit, Perry was seen giving RJ a hug and having a long conversation with him.

[Charania] Just in: Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit have agreed to a multi-team deal that sends Jaden Ivey and Mike Conley Jr. to the Bulls and Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric to the Pistons, sources tell ESPN. Detroit also receives a 2026 first-round protected swap from Minnesota.

Damn we gave up assets to trade Huerter and the Bulls get Ivey???

That's wild. Thought Simons would play out that contract and considering the Cs didn't just fold up shop this year they get someone that can actually help them in the playoffs this year and then goes away. The Bulls aren't actually interested in Simons long term are they?
Yeah. It sorta felt like Simons had really built an important role for the Celtics as their third guard behind White and Pritchard but I guess they have more confidence in Jordan Walsh than I do.
