Top Swingmen (ESPN)

Evans has some good moves to the hoop and a very good handle for a shooting guard frosh, but he's very, very, raw and not a shooter. Not sure how we'd develop a pure-SG longterm prospect since he has no hope of ever getting any time behind Kevin Martin. If we're GOING to draft a SG to backup Martin, better to get someone like Dionte Christmas who can step in immediately and shoot.

I'm intrigued with how DeRozan is coming along, but you again run into the rawness issue. I'm also interested in Victor Claver. 6'10" with major, major hops. Still developing the rest of his game.

I'd also rate DeJuan Summers ahead of Earl Clark and Aminu. He's not quite as athletic as those guys, but Clark and Aminu are serious offensive liabilities until they learn to shoot.

And I think you gotta have Jodie Meeks on the list.

has anyone here seen evan turner play? he has the size to play the position and has excellent percentages.. if he is a good enough athlete then thats exactly the kind of player that translates well to the nba

I've watched Ohio St. play twice now and Turner never really stood out for me, so I was surprised to see Chad Ford put him on the list. But looking back, neither of the games I watched was really one of his better games, so I guess I'll have to keep watching.

I think Summers is going to be one of the surprises of the draft. Sure, people have taken notice of him recently, but he's still likely to go from 10-16. I think he could be one of the better players out of the draft. Good size, good shooter, and I think an under-rated athlete. He is very strong and bulky but the guy can jump (should have had a monster dunk a few nights ago, for some reason I can't think of the team it was against, Nbrans you probably know), as well as a poster dunk a week or two ago while getting fouled.

People won't see him as the guy with star potential, but when it's all said and done, I think he could be one of the better players out of the draft.

I've yet to see Harden play, which is really annoying me. Arizona haven't been shown yet, so I'm missing out on Hill, too.

I was expecting bigger things out of Evans to be honest. He is coming along, but you get the feeling that he is not using his talents properly. He has a good handle and was good at getting to the basket. He seems to settle for bad shots too often. I still think he can be a very, very good player if he sorts it all out.

I haven't seen Clark enough this year to have a solid opinion of him, and I see Aminu as a PF. DeRozan is another guy I was expecting to dominate. He is coming along, but for someone who looked so explosive in highschool, his explosiveness doesn't look great. He has been showing some of his potential more recently, however.

^I think I know the one you're talking about, I'm pretty sure it was against West Virginia and when he dunked it it was almost like he was still elevating when he threw it down. I also agree with you about Summers. He just needs a midrange game. He's a good shooter, good driving to the hoop, and good athleticism, but for some reason his scoring is somewhat limited because he doesn't feel comfortable pulling up off the dribble. If he added that to his game his offense would be almost unstoppable.

I've been sort of fascinated with Summers. I agree with you on the midrange shot, but the guy is a very good athlete, and certainly has an NBA body. he could surprise us all and be the steal of the draft.

Lest some have forgotten, or simply don't know. UConn vrs Notre Dame today at 4 o'clock pacific time. I'm curious to see how Thabeet does against Harangody. It will be a real test. Harangody, if you haven't seen him play, is one tough dude. He's an undersized PF/C for Notre Dame, at 6'8" and probably around 265 pounds. But he's a tenacious rebounder and low post scorer. Thabeet should have a terrific size advantage. It should be interesting.

^I'm curious too, but it's also somewhat of a false comparisons, because it's not like Thabeet is going to be guarding anyone 6'8" in the NBA or will be guarded by anyone who is 6'8" and thus quicker.

Yep, that's the game. He created that space by using a nice double cross-over, too. I'm really intrigued by him. He's never going to be a franchise player, but he could be a Butler type player. I just think there is more in him than he is showing. Not sure about taking him with a top 5 pick, but he would be a great choice if he was there with Houstons pick.

I won't get to see the Uconn game unfortunately, haven't seen one at all this season. This stupid channel I have keeps showing the same teams. I've seen many G'town and UNC games, but haven't got to see players like Thabeet, Harden, Teague etc., it's pretty annoying. I'm sure I'll get to see them a few times in the future, I'll just have to be patient.

Come on down to my house. Three satelite dishes and three TV's. Not enough eye's.
