Timekeeper vs Kings 1/11/11

I just got to watch the last few minutes of today's game just now and there was some shady stuff going on with the clock. During the 4th quarter, he let a lot of time go off the clock after the whistle was blown. On a foul on John Wall, it went from 49 seconds to 45 seconds. Also happened a little bit after each play after that.

I didn't watch overtime, but I checked the game thread and apparently it happened in overtime as well? Over at realgm someone posted at what points in overtime it happened:

- After Hinrich's shot, it ran for about 10 seconds despite a timeout being called
- After Garcia got fouled they let it run for about an extra 1.5 seconds
- After Hinrich went out of bounds it went for about another 4 seconds
- After foul on Martin, ran another 4 seconds
- After foul on Thorton, another 1 second

I'm sure Kings management noticed this. They should definitely look into it to see if anything can be done after the fact.

I definately noticed this too and it was really pissing me off... I was waitin for someone on the Kings staff to say something but they never did..Hopefully someone noticed because that shaved off a lot of time and could have cost us the win.

Yea that was ridiculous. I can't believe no one on the Kings' staff noticed it and said something. So much valuable time was taken off the clock with absolutely no response.

Someone in the Wizards forum said that it was a broadcast issue, and the clock was fine in the arena.

I didn't watch the game but I'm sure whoever did would notice that the team played the game accordingly to what was on the clock. So did you feel they played to what time was left based on the broadcast time or what the person on the wizards said what was going?

To me it looked absolutely ridiculous, but no one said anything during or after the fact. What might have happened was that the broadcast clock was several seconds out of sync with the real clock so while the real clock stopped at a certain point, to us it appeared as though there was more time left on the clock than there actually was and that the clock kept going after the game was stopped.

But then wouldn't have the time reset after it stopped? Or wouldn't have there been time leftover at the end when it hit 0:00?

No what I was saying is that the clock on the broadcast was apparently behind the real clock and was "catching up". So, for example (I dont remember the exact numbers) if the game stopped with 40 seconds to go, our clock showed 45 seconds at that time, and continued to go until it hit 40. So basically the clock and the game we saw on the broadcast were out of sync with each other by several seconds.
