Tickets for Staples games in Monarchs section?

Now that LA has made their round a contest, I am wondering if the Monarchs will put anything together in a hurry for Monarchs fans at LA if they win, even if it is just a tickets only thing for 1 or 2 games. Anyone know anything on that for this Saturday & Sunday?

If not, what is the best way to get tix where you can sit with Monarchs fans? We have gone to regular season games at Staples before and it is not fun to be with a bunch of Sparks.

Does anyone know what time the game in LA on Saturday would be if LA is still in it? I have to jump through hoops rearranging meetings and flights on a trip and it sure is tough to plan during playoffs.

If game 2 and 3 are played at Staples...

Game 2 is on Saturday at 6 p.m. I believe there is a scheduling conflict at Staples, so the game will be held at the Pond.

Game 3 (if necessary) will be at Staples on Sunday at 5 p.m.

thanks 6th

I don't know where you got your info. But that would be doable for me. I hope the Monarchs put something together for fans.

rayrbrun, that schedule is "Unofficial." It was posted somewhere about a week ago or so(cannot remember where). MBF also posted it in a thread here. For some reason, the WNBA are only officially giving out one scheduled round at a time. The 1st round held true (thus far), other than two of the Saturday games were flip-flopped time-wise. It may have been because ABC wanted to cover Houston and Sacramento, instead of Detroit and Indiana. Good choice on their part. :D

The finals round is being listed already on WNBA.com just as it was originally "unofficially" posted, so hopefully, round 2 will stay pretty much on course.

I did hear on Friday's coverage of the Sparks game on NBATV, that if L.A. advanced, they would be hosting either Sacramento or Houston at the Pond on Saturday because Staples is already booked for American Idol (or something).

Well, since they were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO busy putting "things in the works" for round two, I would hope so too especially since they have no idea when or what those plans would need to be since the opponent won't be determined until Tuesday. [yes, I'm still bothered that nothing was done for game 1 of the first round, and yes, I know I should get over it].

I believe they did try to assist fans in getting tickets for an LA and/or SEA playoff series. I don't think its something they've done every year, but I vaguely remember them doing it once specifically because I remember some conversation about how difficult it was for them to get blocks of tickets from the opponent's front office so everybody ended up being spread around the arena instead of together in one block. And the thinking that it was purposely done that way to keep the ARCO Traveling Thunder to a minimum.

The scheduling conflict for Game #2 is that an "American Idol" live concert tour show is scheduled for Staples. So, if it comes down to that --- assuming that the Monarchs play the Sparks instead of the Storm --- the game will be at The Pond in Anaheim.

Speaking of which, I believe the "American Idol" live concert show will be at Arco on August 29th. Hopefully, there will be no conflict or create a scheduling logjam if the Monarchs get that far.

I think we would have heard about it by now if there was an issue. The M's have been very fortunate since their first playoff appearance year in 1999 - they did not get home court for that one game playoff but had they done so, that game would have been played at the UC Davis Rec Center. Their only conflicts have come during the preseason since 1999.

Well, there better not be a conflict. The finals aren't scheduled to start until the 30th.

Where to Stay in Los Angeles for $100 or less

Nomally when I go, I stay down in Anaheim. I have no desire to do so this go around. Does anybody have any suggestions of where to stay that is realitively nice for $100 per night?

I am not counting out Seattle...and it would be nice if it is, but I am trying to make travel arrangements to So. Cal just in case you know;) .

I wasn't a fan back in '99, but out of curiosity, do you remember what the circumstances were for the possibility of having it at the U.C. Davis Recreation Center (Pavilion)? Was there something else (such as a concert) going on at Arco Arena at the time?

Here's a pic of the UC Davis Pavilion (2nd photo down):

I've stayed at the China Town Best Western for $75/night. It's about the cheapest place I've found that's centrally located and not skeezy. Free parking too. Some places have a lowish room rate but charge you $20+/night to park so watch out for that.

Check priceline though, you never know what the room demand is and you can score sometimes. I've done pretty well picking my location, quality level, and putting in a lowball offer with the must accept condition. You can even pay $5 to have the option to get out of the "must accept."
