Ticha Injured in Practice.....

#1
.....her status is uncertain for the series. :( Just announced on 1140. Ankle.

Considering it is a 3 game series in a four day period, does not sound good to me. Stay tuned I am sure Jim Kozimor will have more to say at 7pm.

That is not good at all. We need her to win this series. Why does this happen! We are so close and then our star player gets injured. This is disgusting...

@*?!^%@ Of all the rotten luck!

On a lighter note, they did say DeMya practiced with the team. However, Ticha is even more irreplaceable...:( (beat me by a hair GeorgeofSac ;) )

Ticha is a warrior and I am sure will be doing everything in her power to get back on that court. Somehow, I am sure that she is just like Yo, who said in an interview last week, "If I can tie my shoes, I'll be on that court."

Incidentally, the day after we beat the Sparks last Friday, I remember thinking to myself, "I just hope that nobody from the Monarchs gets injured in a game or in practice." And now this happens! :(

If this is an ankle sprain, I doubt that Ticha will be able to play in the Series. If she does, it might the potential Game #3 on Sunday, if it gets down to that.

But the good news is that DeMya will be back and Kara will too.

Looks like it's been that way all season: one player gets injured, and the rest of the team steps up to the challenge, and then some! But that's teamwork!

Dang it, I'm looking forward to this matchup. I hope Tich heals quickly so she'll be ready to play in the finals. Get well soon Tich. Glad to hear the Walker was at practice today. Wooo whooo... I'll get to watch the games on tv and not on my computer, thank you ESPNs. Go Monarchs.

This news does not make me happy :(

She has been playing sooo well, you can see the hunger in her, she wants this! I'm sure if she can move, she'll be out there. But the way that the Monarchs play will make it difficult. Whiz requires a lot of movement on defense, quick feet. And on offense, we're at our best when Ticha is running or aggressively driving.

crapola.

Please, please, please let this be a fignewton of our imagination. They're publicizing it so that the Comets think she's injured.....but the rest of us know better......;) (one can only hope.....)

DeMya is Ready to Go

According to Coach "T" Tom Abatemarco Ticha more than likely will NOT play on Thursday if at all in the series.

Walker says herself that she will play off the bench for the rest of the post season beginning Thursday.

Damn...

That is unbelievable

We can't win for Losin can we.

She won't play be able to play the entire series???

Well the Kids are gonna have to grow up quickly.

Newton has started all year, and Haynie should be able to give some good minutes. Kara can Start and She and Chelea can split ball handling duties.

Didn't she sprain her ankle last year, and she managed to play?

Lets hope for the best.

She sprained her foot last year. It wasn't an ankle, it was something with the bottom of her foot. It wasn't major. She did it in the last regular season game and basically just sat the rest of that game out. She was ready to go for the playoffs.

Let's just hope this is minor. Defensively, she was awesome last time Sac met up with Houston. She was very effective against Swoopes. But even if she can play, this will limit her mobility for sure.

Um...I turn my computer off for two days and this is what I come back to?!?!?!?

Where this screws us is that we may have no upper eschelon quality defender with size for Swoopes for a majority of the game because I think Ticha handled the majority of those minutes last time we saw them. Newton is needed to close down their multi-headed point guard. Powell would be nice to have on Canty or Arcain but she may need to switch over to Swoopes. Maiga's gonna lodge heavy minutes to open game one I reckon. Swoopes is on fire anyway so I'm not sure the defender matters all that much, but it's the help aspect on everybody else.

Indeed, the kids are going to have to grow up EXTREMELY fast in the next few days.

So, if neither Ticha nor DeMya can play on Thurs (hope that is not the case) are we only suiting up 9 players? If that happens, we not only have to see the kids grow up quickly, but we have to hope the refs aren't too whistle happy.

The sad thing is, refs in any sport tend to favor established superstars over rookies in their calls. How many times did Michael Jordan get called for traveling or palming the ball?

I actually am least worried about the offensive side of the ball because I think you can get away with Haynie, Newton, Lawson and potentially Powell running the offense when they are on the floor which will give the Comets a different look since they've been game planning for Ticha. I'm still freaked out about the defensive side of the ball.

But then I started thinking (or psychotically hallucinating...you decide ;)) what if this is where Maiga blows up for a week? She showed signs against Seattle a couple of weeks ago....maybe just maybe....??? I'm really struggling to find out where the silver lining is from this, we managed to get a silver lining with the other injuries we've had this year...which all seemed equally untimely and potentially devastating. ::she says placing rosy glasses and happy face away for the night in a place she can find them in the morning tomorrow::

Ticha is officially Day to Day acording to Coach T last night on MonarchsTalk

Demya was also on and said shes ready to go. She practiced yestrday and felt fine.

No MamaBristow, none of this sounds good. No Ticha and a questionable DeMya will make this extremely difficult. DeMya may say she's fine, but she obviusly came back to soon last time. I'll hope she really does have a stronger knee this time. But still, to have no Ticha in the guard rotation is gonna be very hard at this level of play. "Stepping up" in the regular season is entirely different from doing it in the WCF. I guess I need to borrow the happy face and rose-colored glasses from MontysBF. :D

At the moment, I am once again questioning what fate has against Sacramento basketball fans.:(

Me too.

I can't believe that we have this far after so many years, and now fate deals this blow. :(

I really need those rose-colored glasses right now.

So far this year when injuries have come about, the backups have done a great job. I will contunue to believe the youngsters will step up. They have great role models who have confidence in them as well. In their support I'll be wearing my Haynie-ac tshirt and sending them positive vibes.

Some folks are going to Hangar 17 for the game if you're interested. I'll probably go, but I won't get there till 7 or so...

Keep the faith everyone!!!!

Hey....I have a better Idea...

Why risk getting the Comets players injured, Lets just stay home and and wait for the Eastern conference finals to be completed.

We can help the Post-Katrina surviviors at the Astrodome...

We should give them support anyway...
But Damn folks...
This series hasn't even started yet and ya'll sound like you are phoning it in.

Ladies and Gentleman... This is a great team. We all have felt that this team is special. And goodness knows we have endured some injuries that we could have done without.

Yes the Timing of this particular Injury Really Sucks. But We are the best team in the West. We have won games without DeMya, Yo, Kristen, Kara, and we have played games where Ticha has had limited minutes.

Let's trust in the talent and comraderary of this team. I think Ticha can be back for Game 2. Lets hope that we show Championship basketball where she won't be needed.

Luv13: I am still rooting for this team to go all the way. I'm just realistic enough to know that this just got a whole lot tougher. The news out of the Monarchs is that it takes 7-10 days for this type of injury to heal. DeMya herself says she's rusty.

And its different to win without players dring the season when some of your games are against inferior opponents. The Comets are most definitely not that.

Having said all that, in no way do I think we CAN"T win. And as a fan, I am hoping we will and thinking we can. And Saturday at the game, I will scream until I have no voice left. Heck, I'll be screaming at the TV tomorrow night! (Yes, I have been known to chant defense in my own living room.:D )

I'm sorry we won't see Ticha play tomorrow night at the TC. However, I agree with MBF that Ticha's absence will only have a significant impact on the defensive side. The Monarchs have too many dangerous shooters to pick up what Ticha has been doing offensively. We may not see the impressive passes of Ticha's, but Lawson is a fairly good substitute to lead the Monarchs.

Does Ticha's absence make it more likely the Comets will win? No, but it does help. If the rest of your players step up, the Monarchs are still the favorites to win this series.

Now, pardon me if I don't wish your team the best...I'm still fond of Comets Red!
