Ticha Injured in Practice.....

Yep, I'm in fully happy face rosy glasses mode right now. I refuse to believe that the negative version is the way this script is meant to end. Yo has been preaching "team" this season and who when one person goes down everybody else steps up, and this group ain't going down like that with this so I aint either. (Not that I didn't raise a fist to the sky and yell "WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYY" when I first read the prognosis - hey I gotta vent ;))

But they ain't going down like that.

Hmm...it'll be tough for our rookies in Kristen and Chelsea to go against Staley, Arcain, and Canty, but luckily they got adequate playing time during the regular season and the first round of the playoffs. Kara and possibly Nicole will spend some time playing the 2 guard. I kinda like a line-up of Kristen/Kara, Nicole, Maiga, Brunson, and Yo out there so that Nicole doesn't have to guard Sheryl and might not be guarded by Sheryl. Guess we'll have to see what Coach Whiz pulls out of his hat for game one!

I figured that she wouldn't be playing in the Houston series. But what about getting rehab for the sprain so she can play in the next series? Aren't sprains, unlike broken bones, able to heal more quickly with a good deal of rehab?

I think I agree with Koz' assessment last night after the game....if the M's had lost that game last night, her status might have suddenly become a day to day thing. With the win and the potential to close out the series with a win tomorrow - there's not as much of a sense of urgency to rush her back for Saturday's game. If the series is pushed to Sunday, I'd suppose they'd reassess the urgency.

But the coaching staff didn't seem to be putting chips on her showing up at all this series and getting the win last night probably made them feel a lot more comfortable with that decision. Yo certainly had let it be known before they left Sacramento that they would be fine without Ticha, so apparently it never worried them at all regardless.

Part of MBF's post:

This is why the Monarchs must close it out on Saturday (tomorrow)! I think tomorrow's game actually puts more pressure on the Monarchs because I'm sure they don't want to play another game the next day (Sunday). Also, the Houston Comets have turned out be suprisingly strong on the road. Remember the unlikely two-game road wins over Seattle, a good home-court team? God forbid it happens here!

I respect the Comets enough that they're not going to lie down on Saturday and hand things over to the Monarchs that easily.
