TIBCO sold

Anybody know what percentage of TIBCO Vivek owned? I was able to quickly find his executive compensation (only about $8-$9mil a year), but didn't see his name on the major stockholder's list I was looking at, at least not as an individual.

This could actually be a good thing for the Kings financially.

Here's what I'm thinking: A good deal of Vivek's personal wealth was tied up in TIBCO. With the sale, that wealth has just become quite a bit more liquid. Perhaps this opens up some purse strings.
 
My strong primary preference would be for Vivek to be a long term deep pocketed owner. That would be best on many fronts.

Nobody really knows where this goes. But, if he rode in and saved the team, locked up for for 30 years, and got the arena done ... and eventually gets to a spot where he can't swim with the big boys and moves on ... so be it. We're in a much better place and progress. Thanks and god speed.

No reason to panic. There is no chance this gets anywhere near Maloofs 2.0. When owners either stop spending or can't spend, smart fans and media direct others to stay away to force the owner to either sell or deficit spend. That didn't happen here because everybody knew the Maloofs were emotional, nit-wits, without a lease, and they pretty much didn't want to be here at the end. A "if the owner won't spend, stay home and let him know how you feel" campaign would have meant no more Sacramento Kings.

Much less so for a city with a 30 year lease and the potential PR and political stain for the NBA of messing with a city that just funded 2/3 of an arena and already deal with dead beat owners.

He'll probably be fine long term. If not, we'll probably be fine long term.
 
Man TDOS is getting bad this year. Vivek's net worth is north of 700MM, it's probably closer to 1BB. I have done no research, but it's seems to me like this is a move to get out from Wall Streets strangle hold on reporting for public companies.
 
Let us remember that Vivek is not the only person invested in the Kings. I think this is a sign that he no longer thinks TIBCO is a challenge and he is going to devote everything to the Kings and maybe soccer. I can't imagine a negative to this. I can't say for a fact that he no longer sees TIBCO as a challenge but that mindset matches the way I operate.

These big shots have sports teams as a hobby because they know they there is little profit from them. He wouldn't sell TIBCO for the Kings. Plus, he's an owner. Not a GM. There isn't much to do for him for a guy with his brain.
 
A man such as he in Silicon Valley with his intelligence, education, connections, clout, and creativity, who suddenly comes upon 700 MIL in cash... does not go broke folks.

And I agree with whoever said soccer.

Vivek's going MLS. So's a lot of smart money. Serious growth sport. Over the next 30 years football will decline (sorry, the brain injuries aren't going over well with parents), soccer will increase a ton, baseball will continue is slow, nostalgic decline, and basketball will increase.

No it won't. It's far too popular and generates far too much money. Furthermore, soccer isn't far behind in regards to concussions. In fact, girls soccer has the highest concussion rate of any youth sport.

And so logically, women's soccer would have the largest number of retirees of any sport with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Which makes perfect sense, as evidence by this article:
