This Kings team may be the most selfish basketball team I've ever seen...

There are worse offenders of formatting and the English language as a whole on this site. Ellipse man and the rampant overuse of "as an aside" come to mind. Mr. Bold has good points. Poor spacing, confused players, handing ball off, action staying on one side of the court.

As an aside...

Young teams that haven't been playing together for a long time don't move the ball very effectively. They turn it over a lot. They take bad shots. I don't think any of that makes them selfish. It makes them inexperienced, which is obvious, considering the turnover on the roster over the last two years. It shows that they're lacking practice, which isn't anything surprising when you consider how rushed the preseason was.

Seems like some people expect this team to be ready to contend for a championship RIGHT NOW. We're one of the youngest teams in the NBA. Our rotation is unsettled, to say the least. We have a couple of holes on our roster. Wait a couple weeks and see what we really have, who we really are, and then make some judgments based on a larger sample size.

OptimusRhyme - funny stuff, man.

What I know this team needs is a coach that can implement a serious, NBA-proven offensive (and hopefully defensive) system.
I'm talking about pick-and-rolls and screens - 2 of the only plays that teams use when the defense ratches up the pressure.

PW has had more than 2 full seasons to do this, and has failed so badly he didn't even TRY.

Not fully the case. He started to finally run things through Cousins and run more half court sets based on ball movement and player cuts last year and the team jumped in the assists category and not coincidentally in the wins category as well.

What I know FOR SURE that the team needs is;

Jimmer & IT should not play together. True, but keep in mind they are the only two attempting to run offensive plays at this point. IT needs to calm down a bit, and Jimmer needs to do the exact opposite and stop passing up on open shots
Jimmer should not guard Small Forwards. We are just setting him up for failure, when its already hard enough for him right now. He needs to learn to guard PGs. Agreed 100%. I actually think his guard defense has been okay - certainly not awful - but when he gets put on big guys, it's destined to fail miserably
Thompson and Hickson should play limited minutes together if any at all. (They are the exact same player pretty much and we get torched on defense) Hickson has been a disappointment... has he always been this bad?
Utilize Chuck & DMCs passing more. That requires passing in the first place
Practice our goddamn freethrows Um, yes. NBA players... no excuse. I don't care how tall and thick you are
Take speed before the game I know a good dealer, I'll PM Coach his number
Change our mascot to Chewbacca Princess Leia would be a more fitting mascot for the way this team is performing
Redbull instead of Gatorade So it'd be like the last game... strong first half, burnt out second half?
Each player get Mike tyson tattoos But then Jwill will think Jimmer is even hotter
Eat opposing players children This goes against my morals, can't support
Breakdance celebrations after scoring We have video evidence that our players can get down, so why not?
Sign Adam Morrison & Bill Murray No
Free Beer night every home game Then our fans will all walk like Dirk... you might be onto something here
Ride out on Lions during intros Too dangerous, but maybe we could declaw and teeth them
Listen to Chumbawamba at halftime They suck, and sounds too much like "chewbacca"
Replace all sneakers with moon boots I'll have to pray about this one
Steroids *See: My response to Speed
Replace Westphal with Whoopie Goldberg Then I'd have to jump on the "I hate coach" bandwagon

all pretty clear things, that should change within a few games!
My thoughts on these ^

A two man marcus/jimmer and DMC pick and roll would be deadly, thorton and jimmer can both shoot off the dribble or behind a screen, cousins has a good jumpshot from mid range.

I think tyreke would be most effective doing flex cuts/backdoor cuts/ quick post ups if point guards will be guarding him.

I don't know that we have holes as much as we have team construction that lends itself to 1 on 1 play. Our main ball handler is Tyreke Evans and he's a drive and kick player. A scorer, not a distributor. This is not a knock on Tyreke. I personally enjoy watching him play. However, if the coaches believe he has to have the ball in his hands at all times to be effective, there is almost nothing any of the other players can do except "get theirs" when the ball finds their hands. I'm not even calling Tyreke a ball hog. I don't think that's his intention. I just think he's out of position and being used improperly. For Tyreke, I'd want him to focus on being a defensive stopper. He can slash and score at any point in time when he gets the ball. For the team, I'd rather have Cousins play the Webber role and setup at the high post and distribute the ball, because I think he has more of those play creating skills.

I think most of the blame can be placed on the coaching staff for either not knowing what to do, or not being able to convince the players on the roles they need to play in order for the team to be successful. It has to be the latter, because there is a lot of basketball knowledge on staff.
