Crystal Ballin': Sacramento Kings
Crystal Ballin' takes a team-by-team look at what should, could, and probably will happen in the June 28th NBA Draft.
Sacramento currently has but one pick in the draft -- #10. It's an interesting spot, right between the second-tier prospects like Yi Jianlian and Jeff Green and the next level of Jason Smiths and Al Thorntons. Looking at the Kings roster (which makes me cry, by the way), you'd guess Geoff Petrie will be very active of draft day. We'll see.
Needs: Everything but shooting guard. Seriously. The Kings have two small forwards at backup point guard, three power forwards playing center, and one swingman doing whatever the hell he likes. Unless they draft an unathletic, soft center, an insane small forward, or Mini Me, they're filling a need.
Best Case Scenario: Brandan Wright or Mike Conley freefall down the board to Petrie's waiting embrace.
More Likely Scenario: Spencer Hawes wedges himself roughly into Petrie's waiting embrace.
Please Don't Take: Hawes. Kings fans can take only so much paleness before snapping.
Second-Round Possibilities: If Petrie nabs a second-rounder, look for Kyrylo Fesenko of The Ukraine. (Yes, a pale guy. Sue me.) With Vitaly Potapenko's impending free agency, the Kings are sliding under their Euro quota.
