Hmm...actually looks pretty well proportioned...well, aside from having the head of a 5'5" man.
Wonder if he can move at all? A lot of very tall people are effectively deformed, but that pic makes this guy look no different fom a 6'5" guy in general build. Intriguing.
Not true. China is a vast nation made up of many many many different ethnic groups who carry very different physical characteristics. I think there are over 50 different subgroups and some of these groups have a distinct height disimilarity over other subgroups. Some are generally shorter, some are generally taller. Not that I think any group is "known" to be over 7 feet tall in height but some (and I could be wrong on the actual ethnic group) like the Hakka are quite tall. On a side note, I had an ex-boyfriend(Chinese) once claim my (at the time) current boyfriend could not POSSIBLY be full Chinese because he was 6'4...but I knew both of his parents and I gotta say, he was definitely first generation American and both of his parents first language was Cantonese. Not that it matters in any way at all, but jeez "heightism" on top of racism is just a little too much, especially when it's an internal sort of "pure bloodism", eh?
OK, I did a quick google and found reference to two 3,000 year old Chinese mummies. A woman whose stature was more than 6ft and a man who was more than 6ft6in tall. Not Sun Ming Ming stature at all, but certainly outside the realm of "mad-experiment". Most Europeans of that era didn't break 6ft at all.
OK, it's late, the Kings won a meaningless game and I'm still happy about it so I'll let it go. I don't feel like doing any more googling to convince the uninformed masses that the Chinese peoples are pretty damn diverse in physical characteristics.
Playoffs start in 48+ hours so, Go Kings! Good to see Bobby back looking like himself. I'd nearly forgotten how exciting he is to watch!
Doubt it, I'm only 5'11". Man, imagine if he could move and jump like the average NBA player. Heck, imagine if he could run and jump like the elite basketball players! 7'9", with a 40" vertical. ::drools::
Actually, "ming" means bright, not tall. So it would actually be bright bright sun, although "sun" doesn't actually mean sun, it's a surname which literally translated means grandson, I'm not too sure but I think yao translated means handsome or something along those lines.
Yup, he's 7'0" and about 210-230 pounds I think and amazingly athletic. Plays SF or PF I believe, maybe some C as well, if he manages to bulk up. Very good offensive (good ball handling, mid range jumper, passing and post game) and defensive game (good anticipation, great rebounding and shotblocking) due to his raw athletic ability but he still needs to learn the fundamentals of the game, so far he's doing well relying purely on his athleticism. Reminds me of Andrei Kirilenko in that he's a guy who can do a bit of everything and he can do it well, but compared to Kirilenko he's extremely unpolished. He also needs to work out more, he's way too skinny to be able to bang with the other big men in the league.
