Theus on Sportscenter

Quite a few actually -- I could name at least a dozen without even thinking about it (just to fire them off to prove the point Riley, Avery, Adelman, Bird, Dunleavy, Popovich, Carlisle, Tomjanovich, Ainge, Westphal, either Van Gundy etc.).

Now I can't imagine a coach - rookie, existing, decorated - who could have taken us a lot further this year with the bunch we had. If he is put to the task to have to do so next year, with essentially the same bunch, we might hope to see some slim improvement, but we are talking LOW CEILING on that, and a first and out in the playoffs at best. But I don't think, given the current circumstances, it is fair to see Theus falling into some pattern of being a career playoff outsider as a coach just because his playing days were somewhat that way. We've got to give him a year or two more (if he lasts that long) to "earn" that kind of tag.

I don't think you guys acknowledge the fact that we had so many injuries and roster changes this year. Let's see, we won almost 40 games this season and Theus had to work around all the problems with injuries. Sure, next year everybody is just a year older but if we're all healthy we can stir something up for the future. I do agree though that we need more team players and less players that play one-on-one. If Ron And John can finally get that through their heads, then we can create a better foundation for the future

Don't think of it as a prediction, think of it more like this.
