The way I see it...

Same here. That's why I was trying to tell everyone not to knee-jerk react to this. Wait and see what they actually look like in person, on the players, on the court. Everyone was freaking out from a video game representation. They look completely different in person compared to the video game picture that was on this site.

Just to clarify: these are the new alternate jerseys. They aren't replacing the purple. They'll be worn 14 times this year, according to this morning's Bee. I think, for the record, the ultimate impression will come if they're worn nationally. I think a lot of people will have the same initial reaction - "Aren't those just like the Laker jerseys?" We'll simply have to wait and see...

Would it be any more/less legitimate if it were printed in the Bee itself? What if someone else used it as a cite? What's the difference?

73% of the people I've talked to would like to see examples of your contention
24% of those polled think you're making too big a deal out of nothing
3% wonder why you always single out VF21 for discussion

Because internet polls are as unscientific as it gets. Someone can completely manipulate an internet poll. They can vote over and over and over and sway it their way. They can delete their cookies and keep voting. They're bogus, useless and irrelevant.

The demand in the team store, however, was as real as it gets. The attempt to "not buy gold" failed miserably last night.

Ah, lighten up. I'm just picking on you now. I felt vindicated when I walked in the store last night, so I just wanted to come on and give you a hard time.

Funny post, though.

It is also imminently regional; I'm not taking what hardcore Kings Fans in the Sacramento area are willing to pay for as gospel. When those abominations sell around my way, then I'll be willing to retract my statement, but not before.

You felt vindicated when a couple hundred people bought jerseys? How does the number of people who like or dislike, buy or not buy in any way make you feel this way? Some people are going to like them, some people are not. It's an OPINION, personal preference, which means there is no right, and no wrong.

I just didn't want them to be shiny, myself, but they are. On the bright side, they didn't show huge sweat stains immediately upon taking the court, like Denvers do, so that is something to be thankful for!:D

Hopefully it wasn't just because the guys didn't really do much to actually break a sweat...

That was EXACTLY the point I was trying to make to VF21 on another thread. I came on and said I liked the jersey. But all she could reply was "no one else does"...as if I had to change my opinion because an internet poll showed that I shouldn't feel that way. That was exactly my point. Thank you.

KingFrog1,

Maybe I'm missing something, but didn't you just register for this site on Wednesday? And haven't ALL of your initial posts dealt with your approval of the new Kings uniforms?

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd think that you work for Maloof Sports or the marketing firm that developed this uniform/marketing ploy for the Kings and that you are trying to bolster sales of the new jerseys.

Of course, I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I just play one on the internet.

Geez...I wish. Nope, I've been on this site for years, I just never registered.

OR - and here's an interesting concept for you conspiracy theorists - maybe he's not involved with MS&E at all BUT has a thing about one of the moderators? Perhaps VF21? Look at his signature...

...sigh...I feel so powerful and so loved.

You cannot seem to get past the fact that I, among a good deal of others, commented about the jersey, can you? It's not about the comments; it's obviously about me. Almost like we'd crossed swords in a previous life or something.

Get a grip. I'm posting my opinion. People can AND do disagree with me on a regular basis. The difference is they manage to make it about the issues at hand and not about ME. I think you could do the same, if you really, really tried.

You hit the nail on the head. I've read your posts for years and have had a crush on you. I can't help it. I just...just...admire your vigor and enthusiasm. It's adicting.

YOU made it personal when you sent me a private message threatening to delete my posts.

Okay, that's it. Enough is enough. YOu were banned from this board previously because you continually made it personal between you and me, you caused major problems AND you simply put yourself above this forum and its members. I was more than willing to give you a second chance. Unfortunately, you've blown it. Wave goodbye to all the nice people.

To get back to the topic at hand somewhat, there is a poll at www.sacbee.com/sports for you to vote on how you feel about the jerseys. It's in a red box on the right of the upper portion of the page.

You do have to register to participate, but it's free and pretty painless.

If you have an opinion about the jerseys - one way or the other - go, register and vote. Let your voice be heard, even if it is just an Internet poll. Contrary to what some people think, I think most of us here don't go through the trouble of removing cookies, voting multiple times, etc.

;)

So, it was a PBP; not sure who, but it's not important...

Here's the thing that puzzles me, though; if you're a PBP that decides to come back, why would you bother re-starting the beef that got you banned in the first place? If you're going to do that, why even bother changing your name? You might as well put "I used to be (screen name)" in your signature...

I mean, I would think that somebody who decides to come back after being banned does so because they want to participate in discussion, not because they were a glutton for punishment in their previous life...

Oh, we've always got a number of PBPs around, and generally we just note them when they show up and see how they do before taking any action. Most cause no problems and go for the clean start without causing any problems. Then there are a few who decide to basically troll. Not sure what the point is really. Seems like you would have something better to do with your life. But oh well.

So far, here are the results of VF21's poll:

What is your reaction the Kings’ new alternate jersey?

Love it 2% 9 votes
Like it 15% 64 votes
It's not very good 4% 18 votes
Ugh; looks too much like a Lakers jersey 79% 340 votes
Total: 431 votes

Lots of people don't like it and think it is like a Lakers Jersey.

It's not MY poll, Bballkingsrock. It's a Sacramento Bee poll. I just pointed it out...

;)

EDIT: For the record, this didn't start out to be solely about the new alternate jerseys. Primarily, my thoughts are that the front office seems to be trying too hard to convince us we're good fans when we already know we're good fans. It's almost like "wishing will make it so."

I fully realize they have good intentions; my complaint/disappointment is that they didn't apparently look at some of these things the same way the fans would. It's understandable; they're them - part of the organization. They can't possibly see things the same way we the fans see them. My thought is that instead of telling us how good we are, perhaps they should just worry more about putting the best possible product on the court and letting us SHOW them how good we are as fans.

If we - the average fans - get to know the new players and they play up to their potential, the organization isn't going to have to worry. We'll be raising the ruckus at Arco as much as we did before.

And my question is -- what is your complaint about the current product on the floor? Is there some free agent you thought they should have acquired? Are you upset with the acquisitions of Wells and Abdur Rahim?

In my eyes, they have put together a tremendous product. Sure, I would have liked a physical shot blocker, but I wouldn't say that they failed to get one simply because they were focusing so much on the fans. There just wasn't an impact player like that available (although I do think there is a slight chance Sampson could be that player).

Or are you saying that they have put an excellent product on the floor, but you do not like their other efforts to make the fans happy?

Sorry, I just don't see your point.

I didn't say - ever - that I had a complaint about the current product on the floor.

What I said was the focus on telling the fans how good they are isn't necessary, IMHO. We aren't good because they tell us we are - we're good because we like to root for an exciting, fun basketball team. Instead of THEM telling US we're the best, etc. let us SHOW them by responding to a team full of warriors that try their hardest every night. A team without the drama of the previous couple of years. A team that we can call our own again...

I'm not sure how good the product is going to be because I haven't seen them play yet, but it certainly looks intriguing.

It's not about efforts to MAKE the fans happy. The team should be able to do that without all the hype.

The theatrical hooplah of the "gold standard" is much more suited to Las Vegas, IMHO, than Sacramento. I'm not distracted by bright lights and shiny objects. I want to see substance, not just glitter.

I do not fault the organization for wanting to get back some of the excitement that seems to have lessened in the past two years. We're still a good solid fan base, but there's been a lot of drama - including the departure of key players - that has been a little hard to take in all at once, in a manner of speaking.

Arco ISN'T as loud as a few years back. It's like the fans expect a higher standard and aren't going to be as vocal. They've become a little jaded.

IMHO the cure for that isn't gaudy statues and exortations of how good the fans are. It's a cohesive team that puts it out there every night, without a lot of off-court drama and speculation about who will or won't be here next season.

Get Peja signed; make a firm decision about Adelman; give the new guys a fair shot and then make sure they all keep their eyes on the prize. Get the arena off the ground one way or the other. Give the fans no reason whatsoever to feel they might as well not be involved because the team might not be here in a few years anyway.

The fans aren't the problem, if there is one. Treat the disease and not the symptom.

So far, it appears as though the new acquisitions will breathe life back into the team. Give it a chance to happen...let us know about the new players. Showcase them... sell THEM to us. It's not necessary to sell us to ourselves.
