The time to trade Evans has come

You know as much as I would like to say trade him and be done with it, I think we need a new coach first. Paul Westphaul obviously doesn't know *#^@ about how to use his players.

Reke is a bigger, stronger, AI. Give him enough shots per game and he'll score 30. Dude even shoots at an Iversonesque clip. Has the same "doesnt play well with others" skill set.

That being said, unless we get an amazing offer...I think its still a bit premature to ship Mr. 20/5/5 off.

We need us a real coach, not a clown, then maybe we'll finally see our youngers improve, rather than this slow, roster wide, devolution of skills we've had to watch over the past several seasons.

If this keeps up yuo gotta believe Keith Smart is coaching inside of a month. The Maloofs won't want to pee away the whole season and will have to make the change soon enough that maybe we can make a run at things if we respond to the change.

Westphal has simply got to change up what he's doing here, because he has the entire team confused as hell...again. And he's got no more contract left for security, and a former head coach sitting right next to him on the bench.

Or maybe they do.

I don't think anyone is advocating giving him up for nothing. But if you packaged him with another player and a future first rounder you could probably get a good player in return.

Define good player.

If anythign, Evans should be marching into the coach's office one of these nights and telling the coach ok enough, tried it your way, we are dying. If I'm going down, I'm going down doing it my way. Because frankly Geoff and Westphal have created a real mess here to start the season.

Reke and AI shouldn't not be used in the same sentence. Reke has done nothing to show that he's the same caliber player as AI.

Yeah, if we gave C-Webb enough shots in his twilight he'd score 30 too. Too bad 70% of the time it'd take 35-40 shot to do so.

Exaggeration, but point is, idc if he's a bigger, stronger AI. If he's not efficient, it doesn't matter.

Worst part is....This is going down EXACTLY like all the haters said it would....Extremely selfish basketball.

thats a little too much

AI could shoot and find open guys and single handedly carried his team. Reke still has no shot after all his practices oh that sanother difference The former doesnt practice but is still better than the latter

AI was fun to watch electrifying on the court even when we hogged it.. reke? i sometimes yawn when he pounds the ball waiting for his eurostep brick a layup or draw a foul. before it was ok but now he's starting to brick his FT toos

I honestly don't have an idea what on Earth is Westphal thinking. What is he actually trying to do? I'd expect almost every single player on our roster to explode if they were traded to a team with half-decent coach. DMC, Reke for sure, but many others too (not Salmons, he is who he is).

I think our problem is that Evans way of doing things and Westphals way of doing things, is one in the same. We need a coach that can show some authority and bring in a system that put players accountable for when they don't perform. Just going to run iso aftr iso? GET BENCHED.

this team would have been beasting if we picked up the fifth pick from the wiz back in 09 and it was such a cheap pricetag too.. could have gone rubio-evans or a more insane rubio-curry tandem. Twolves dropped the ball on that one they would be scary good if they had a curry-rubio backcourt ah the joy of looking back at what could have been

The thing that's so baffling about it is that when you hear these guys talk, including Tyreke, they talk about moving the ball, running plays, playing as a team, etc. like that's how they want to play and how they practice. But then they go out there and do the complete opposite.

Seriously. I'm so sick of the driving in, driving in, driving in, when there are 3-4 guys sitting near the paint. The Knicks worked us and moved the ball around expertly, with what, BIBBY driving in, drawing 2-3 defenders, and kicking it out for the J. So pathetic. The Knicks had good screens, pick and rolls, ball movement. And they thrashed us.

Hardly. Or at least hardly this year. Geoff overloaded the roster with offensive players. Westphal responded by asking all of his guys to step back and make room for all their fellow chuckers. Now nobody knows what to do, there are no roleplayers setting good screens, moving without the ball etc., and we don't actually have a team, we have a bunch of individuals. Its like somebody trying to build a car from scratch and going out and buying 5 engines but no tranny, axels, or wheels. Because after all one engine is good. So more must be better no?

Reke is very clearly not going as much as he would normally. And neither is Thornton. Or Fredette. Or anybody except for Cousins, who is rushing everything and shooting 30%. And there is no point in that at all. Nobody gets in rhtyhm. Everybody is constantly thinking do I shoot or pass or...what else should I do? Its a mess. But its primarily the coach's mess, not the players. If the team was built better. If we had actual plays featuring our best players, these guys could all score (all the way down to Hickson and Fredette off the bench). Instead we are telling guys don't do what you are good at, instead throw it over to Player X so he can stand there and not do what he's good at either. Comparatively throw the ball to Reke, get out of his way, and let him do his thing made sense. That obviously could work long term, but at least there everybody knew what they were supposed to do every play.

Alot of Cousins shooting 30% is the lack of spacing and movement on the perimeter. Teams are crashing down and he has nowhere to go out of the post with the ball.

Evans style is exactly what this team follows.... but everyone is assuming the role that evans played in his rookie year. I believe we are in agreeance. Love your car analogy.

Everything just looks so discombobulated. Really agree with Brick when he says now nobody knows what to do. It is kind of comical to watch the confusion during the heat of the game where everyone is looking around trying to figure out where to go.

i think our biggest problem right now is we just simply can't shoot. field goals or free throws. I mean our top scoreres Thorton, Evans, Cousins, and I guess Jimmer. all missed 8 shot each tonight. Then we miss 15 FT as a team??? Its hack a King out there. We just can't make our freakin shots. Sure you can use clogged lane and no spacing on some of that. But more than that we are just missing. We are getting the rebounds we aren't turning it over to much. defense lapses sometimes but its not the worst we have seen. we just can't shoot. If i had to pick one player on our roster to shoot a 15 ft set shot right now I guess it would be Jason Thompson. That is a sad state with the "shooters" we were supposed to have this year.

It's harder to make the shots when your not getting open looks. Most of their shots are contested. And when they are open their looking for the person running at them instead of shooting freely.

The problem with Evans is that he's one dimensional and that you can't win with his one dimensional play being the focus. He's just not good enough. If you assemble talent around him, those guys need to be involved, but Evans vanishes in a team offense.

He game needs a drastic growth that has not happened by his third year. The longer you wait for it, the longer it drags the team down.

SAME **** we dealt with last season with westfool. JT at SF? this guy needs to go asap. i'm sick of the lack of structured offense.

who the hell puts fredette and IT in the backcourt against vastly superior defensive players? only westfool. i don't know how much more of this crap i can take. we have some serious talent on the team. its not like we're the indiana pacers or toronto raptors.

I am not seeing where Tyreke is the focus. I mean he is taking alot of heat as if he is just jacking up shots left and right. he averages only 2 more attempts than Jimmer and Salmons. thorton seems to be the focus as is cousins. Those 2 lead the kings in attempts per game.

Hate to say it but I TOLD YOU ALL SO! Check my posts from the last two years. Evans is not even a GOOD NBA player let alone a "superstar" as he's been labeled since his rookie year.

The "Superstar" label was, I'm sure, a marketing effort by the Magoofs to bring in more ticket sales and money. No one has any way of knowing if someone will be a superstar going into their rookie year, but somehow TE was somehow labeled as the Messiah to turn around Sac basketball.
