The stats of the Kid "Kevin-Martin"

Prospect
Hello everyone
I conclude the stats of the Kid in many perspects among the second year players in this league. The competitors are Ben Gordon, Dwight Howard Andre Iguodala Josh Smith T.J. Ford Nenad Krstic...etc.
Sorry to can't align them due to the margin space is restricted.
We can see the improvement of him in many fields.
All the numbers says one thing, what he has done is respectable. :)
The consistency is visible through these games. Go Kevin!! The Kid!

actually your wrong bud ;)

Well, actually he's right. Ford was drafted the year before Kevin, but then missed all of last year with that neck injury. So really this is only his second year on the court, but its his third int he league and he's from a different draft class.

Kevin Martin now has the highest 3 point percentage on the team (.407), and that includes the departed Peja Stojakovic.

And if you told me I'd be writing that sentence at the beginning of the season I would have passed out laughing.

And so I wonder where all the Kevin Martin shot doctors have scurried to now?

In the "what have you done for us lately department", here's what Kevin has done:

January: 20 games, 52% FG, 46% 3FG, 12.3 ppg
February: 3 games, 68% FG, 70% 3FG, 17.3 ppg

And, just for good measure, as a...

Starter: 21 games, 53% FG, 48% 3FG, 13.1 ppg

Oh, yeah, Kevin is now #19 in the NBA in free throw shooting %.

And finally, Kevin is currently the #19 3-point field shooter in the entire league right now.

Perhaps one day the KMart shot doctors will come out of hiding and explain to us all how this is even possible...but I doubt it...

In the end, it's ALL about the minutes, baby...

...and if Garcia can continue to get his time, too, his progression will continue just like Kevin's has.

The Kevin Martin shotdoctors appear to have actually considerably altered his stroke in the offseason. And I think the added strength helped too. A lot of that weird windup twist really did look like the motion of a gradeschooler trying to generate torque because of lack of stength. Amazing that no coach ever fixed it at some point. Am quite sure I've never seen anything like it in the NBA before. In any case, the motion is still there, but much more subtle and he can get it off quicker. Either somebody worked on it with him, or he worked on it himself. But either way the odds of his current shot going in (and even getting off) have gone up considerably from when he entered the league.

Quite obviously he is not going to continue shooting 50+% from three, but he has repeatedly proven now that you can't leave him at the three point line. If his feet are set and he catches in rhythm, and he's at Arco especially, its going in. Think there are still some old (in Kevin's case 3 months maybe) scouting reports being utilized because team after team here has been very slow to realize the significant threat he represents at this point.

I see Martin as our SG of the future. The way he has played when Bonzi is out makes me think that we will not sign Bonzi at the end of the season and look to ink Martin for a long term extension before he starts next year. Look for the same type of extension that Peja got the summer before he started at SF for us. It should turn out to be a good deal, and a bargain.

KMart may score more points than Bonzi, but Bonzi is more like Artest where his contributions dont always fill up the box score.
