Okay, This is what I intend to do (anyone who wants to jump on the fantasy train and graft a proposal onto the thread (or board, whatever), feel free to do so). I did not want to clutter the board with a dozen threads, I’m on a roll, and I wanted to bounce these out there, so they‘re all going in this one.

There seems to be lots of trepidation when it comes to posting out of this universe trade ideas that net us a superstar. I'm here to stop all of that nonsense. I am going to abandon all logic, but cling to one provision: the trades must work financially. So without further ado: here is a list of some superstars that all deserve special attention from us, and some trade ideas to bring them into town.

Lebron James

Oh the things I could think, unfortunately any trade proposal would be futile, assuming James walks at the end of season. Meh, here it goes anyway:

Kevin Martin, Kenny Thomas, unprotected first round pick, second round pick, for King James.

This also frees up 18 million + the cost of the draft pick to re-sign James. Go ahead and shoot that one full of holes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dwight Howard

SuuUUPERMAAAAN!!! (who’s never done that before?) Bringing Howard in is more of a finesse play (FO-wise) than bringing in James:

Hawes, Thomas, and Garcia for Howard.

What the heck are you doing Ryan?!
Umm…I admit that this is probably not the best we can do (I originally included Greene to sweeten the pot), but I’m selfish. I also assume any super star we send out for will require a couple of building blocks and expirings in return. Major downside is that this costs tens of millions of dollars over the next few years.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dwayne Wade

Nananananananana Batman! Another walking possibility, but hey, I’m swinging for the fences:

Kevin Martin, Donte Greene, Kenny Thomas for Dwayne Wade and James Jones.

We give them two awesome swingmen, an expiring contract, and take the albatross swinging from their neck in exchange for Wade. Not a bad deal. This leaves 19 Million to resign him as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chris Paul

Does the acronym CP3 remind anyone else of Star Wars? Paul may be easier to extract than any of the above mentioned for personality reasons, but infinitely more difficult financially, because the Hornets are completely strapped.

Beno Udrih, Kevin Martin, Kenny Thomas for CP3 and Okafor comes within $100,000 dollars of working (they’re taking back $100,000 too much).

I believe that there are trade exceptions that can be exercised (maybe I’m wrong). Difficult trade, and expensive for us.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gilbert Arenas

Agent Zero? What? Why?
I think there have been more than a few people on this board that have expressed an interest in a ball handling, super scoring PG to work alongside Evans. This is the most simple trade, with the prototypical pieces:

Martin and Thomas for Arenas.

If they don’t like that, then forget it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tony Parker

Oooh, a sleeper. The Spurs are a difficult trading partner, and Parker may be impossible to trade for, since we could not offer them a deft PG in return, and there is nothing wrong with him.

Kevin Martin and Donte Greene for Parker.

They get young, rising talent and 2 million in cap relief. Don’t know what else they could want (if anything).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guys I left out:

Yao Ming, T-Mac, Greg Oden, Bosh, Amare, Duncan, Deron Williams, Devin Harris.

I wanted to piece together trades for these guys as well, but I must turn my attention to my daily "to do list."

Try to have some fun with these, shoot them dead with prejudice, or build on them like you were Jerry West. I would also like to see ideas for the guys I left out.:D

Dwade and LBJ are FAs at end of season and both have said they will test the market. Why give up so much for a half a season rental when you could end up losing everything? We can dream though...

We need a big more than anything, a Chris Paul deal that also brought Okafor is also very intriguing. I don't like the proposed Howard deal because we move two for one to get a star but wind up even smaller than we were before.

Is Kenny and Kevin enough to get Bosh for a rental? I'd do that because worst case scenario you work a sign and trade, but I think the potential with the young guys would be enough to get Bosh to stay. Plus the arena would be full again in no time.

I don't know about each of those trade scenarios. But as far as who I wouldn't trade, I wouldn't trade Tyreke, then in order of priority I'd want to keep Greene (very much), and then Thompson after him. The rest I'd put in the "trade pool". If someone was incredibly great and I got desperate I'd put Thompson in there too.

I purposely left Thompson and Evans alone. I would like to add the star to that core (Casspi, Brockman, et al. included). Donte was thrown in to loosen the other teams iron grip with potential.

Anyway, just playing around ;).

Edit: I think Brick has a Bosh thread that poses the Kevin / Kenny for Bosh rental. It's down the list on this forum.

I'd like to hang on to Omri too. Tyreke is really the only one that is "untouchable" out of the lot, but I think Greene and Casspi could both break out. I really like Thompson but I do worry about his foul trouble and the way he handles the refs probably makes it worse. Still when he gets past that I think he can be really special, especially if he gets paired with someone that compliments him.
