The Monarchs on Griffith's All-Star Selection

She's going to go for the MVP of that game this time, said it was pretty much the only thing she didn't have yet.

Did Griffith actually beat Lisa Leslie in the voting again?

Bumped since the reserves were announced...

Yes she did...thats why she will start.
That's also why the vote should be taken away from the fans. While this is not quite a Karl Malone/AC Green situation, there's haterism involved, pure and simple. I mean, I'm a Monarchs fan and I don't like Lisa Leslie, so I'll admit that I got a chuckle when I heard this, but let's keep it real for a minute: Yo Griffith has been hampered by injuries, and Leslie is putting up career numbers this year. Anybody who honestly thinks that Griffith's numbers through the first half of the season have earned her the privilege of starting over Leslie does not deserve to be taken seriously.

Based on everything you said, no, she does not deserve to start over Leslie. However, no one was worried 3-4 years ago when Yo was the better player and Lisa was voted to start. As I said in another thread, I think it just all evened out, so I have no problem with it.

I think it's interesting that Yo got the vote over Lisa, who represents the MUCH larger market.

It must not be just Monarchs fans who dislike her.

The vote should not be taken away from the fans. Most of the time they get it right. Its not like Leslie wasn't going to go the Allstar game anyway. If the argument was that the fan vote caused Michelle Snow to miss an appearance, then maybe I'd entertain an argument as to why the fans shouldn't vote.

No, its not just Monarchs fans who dislike her, I also don't think that this necessarily is a haterism thing either. Yo has been hinting for the last several months that this is her final season. Fans knew this was for sure Staley's last year, and I think that more than factored into the league-wide vote than hating Lisa. If the voting went on the basis of haterism, Leslie would have never started a single Allstar game.

From what the front office said, Sac fans completed close to 55K printed in arena ballots, 55K was the total number of ballots allotted to each team. So we probably did do a better job than larger markets in getting the vote out. But we also apparently didn't stuff the ballot box homeristically either.
