The Kings are Blowing It...

I have Feb. 22nd circled myself (trade deadline). Will know then what we have in mind, and whether it will be remotely worth my time committment to continue watching or not. Mentioned before, there are a lot of fun and interesting stories around the league right now. No reason I can see to torture yourself.

I'll keep watching, as it's really not THAT much of a demand on my time, but I wouldn't if I had to stay up late to do so. As it is, I'm already far less concerned about seeing every single play of the game than I have been in past seasons.

Meh.

Either be all the way good, or be all the way bad. Indifference does nothing for me.

I dont care what your excuse is, a fan of a team they love and support NEVER cheer for them to lose...

Im sure im gonna get hit with the standard we need to get a superstar in the draft ... but at this point there is a half as season left i dont want to hear about the draft until we are knocked out of the playoff contention, playoff's itself or after winning the title.

I agree with you. I am not ready to throw the season away. I was crying for a trade before to make the team better THIS YEAR. I am not ready to throw the season away and MAYBE get ONE lucky ping pong ball. If we don't make a deal by the deadline we can always make a deal in the off season when it's all said and done. It is possible to trade our players to move up in the draft. I think that's the only way we are going to get a lottery pick. This team simply has too much talent to compete with the Celtics, Grizz, Sixers, etc. for lottery picks. Do we really want to be the Sixers? I find that a bit hard to believe. I know I don't want the Kings to be the Sixers they are a laughing stock this year.

well obviously players would have to be traded in order to just rebuild in general, that goes without saying. but what is so valuable in this season that we'd be throwing away? a first round exit in the playoffs at best? it's not like we have a championship core here, we got a guy who is potentially a powder keg and is likely to opt out in a year, we have a declining point guard who's contract situation is totally up to him, and we got a big softy at center. lets stand back and examine what we'd be really "giving up". this team isn't going anywhere, i say put it out of it's misery now instead of later when we've dragged it on way too long and all this great young talent has passed us by. this whole rebuilding on the fly thing is not going to pan out and we're only prolonging the inevitable.

No one thought the Pistons were going to win the championship a couple of years ago but they did. It's all a matter of being hot at the right time and clicking when we need to. Can Bibby get hot? Yes. Can Brad? Yes. Can Ron? Yes. Can Kevin? Yes. Can Shereef? Yes. They have all prooved at one time or another in their careers that they are good players it's just a matter of pulling it all together at the right time. I am a positive person I don't strive for the negative. At last nights game I sat next to a guy that I THINK was a Kings fan yet he never cheered for the team once. Instead it was "Shreef is lost out there" or "Kevin can't hit the ocean" or "What are they doing out there". That's just not the kind of fan I want to be. Just my 2 cents.

it's so silly to put any stock in the "losing for a chance at a better lottery pick" thing. you never know what could happen if this team tries, works for the playoff spot, and fights to win!

oh wait. except you do know what happens. it's called THE PAST TWO SEASONS. ;)

For one loaded draft, yes. It could set this team up to be contenders (and not just 8th seeds in our "Groundhog Day" one and done series) for at least 5 of the next 10 years....

I'd love to have 3 picks in this year's draft, with at least one probably a high pick.

we don't have the pistons defensive ability and we don't have any kind of offensive cohesiveness. it's not about getting hot at the right time, to win a championship you have to have the talent and the chemistry and we don't and it's not going to get any better with our core (minus artest and martin) being seemingly on the decline. we're not going to make any noise in the playoffs and we're not going to get any better with this core.

Middle ground, anybody?

Cheer for wins - W's are always good.
Don't stress over losses - possible better draft pick.

I will never actively cheer for a loss, but I won't be overly upset when we lose.

Detroit won the championship because they were a great team. They showed it all year. They didn't just "get hot" and win a title. This team has major deficiencies - unathleticism and lack size in the frontcort and a point guard who can only guard guy's who are 35 years or older. And one thing you should keep in mind, fans are individuals who are passionate about their team - that means they can be very, VERY ticked off at their team, frustrated, and unhappy about their team, not just excited or happy or positive about what the team or organization does. It's when you don't give a damn about the team, that's when you're not a fan.

*shakes head*
Gosh! Look at all these Kings fans spoilt by the losing we did earlier in the season. What do you think the players can just flip the switch and lose, huh?

*mutters*
C'mon, life isn't fair, you know... deal with it.. and other crap goes here.. ah, forget it, you never listen to me anyway..
