The day my PS2 died

Today, as I entered the living room, expecting an exhilarating game of NBA Live 2005 to liven up my day, I came upon a startling, yet disappointing event. My Playstation 2 has gone on to that special place in the sky where only good little PS2's go when they die. It won't play any disc. It won't even play the disc cleaner I purchased. It won't play a CD and it won't play a DVD. It won't play a Playstation 1 game either. I tried all methods of reasoning with the machine, from gentle rubbing and positive reinforcement to venomous chastizing, all to no avail. I shook it and I blew in it. I turned it off and on repeatedly. Nothing worked. Today, May 30th 2005, is the day my PS2 died.

The following can be sung in tune to Don Mclean's great American classic: American Pie

A few, few minutes ago,
I can still remember
How those graphics used to make me smile
And I knew if I moved those analog sticks right,
That I could play fun games all night
And maybe I'd be happy for a while

But this morning made me shiver,
With every attempt I could not deliver
A successful disc read,
I couldn't give it one more disc read

I can remember that I cried
When nothing worked no matter how I tried
I know something touched me deep inside
The day my PS2 died
*Chorus*
So bye, bye good old NBA Live
No more Madden or Final Fantasy or Devil May Cry
That good old boy C Diddy typed and cried
Singin' this was the day my PS2 died,
This was the day my PS2 died.

Mine had a similar problem once... turned out it just needed a little blowing. (Dust buildsup inside)

Ok... guess I have some time to wait. I want to get NBA Live 2005 and play this summer. Do you think its better on the PC version or PS2 version?

Dude make sure it's unplugged, take it apart(carefully) and clean everything with compressed air. You might be voiding the warranty but what do you have to lose?

Have you ever tried getting one open? With mine I cant find a screwdriver small enough to get into such tiny holes and unscrew such tiny screws.

If you cant get it open then spray the compressed air in through the disk opening. Trust me, it works. :D

I had a 2 year warranty, which expired like 1.5 years ago. I might as well take it apart and see what happens.

I'm sorry about your PS2...I had a PS2 but I never really used it so we sold it...but what's funny is that I have the old Nintendo and I love playing with that...I still have the Mario games..lol.:)
