I was reading all of this doom and gloom Kings talk lately and I wanted to shoot out some positive Kings vibes... brighten things up a little... So, what is great about the Kings right now?
1. Quality young bigs: They may be a year or two out, but Thompson and Hawes are going to create a solid foundation for the Kings future. The Kings have had young, promising guards and small forwards in the past few years, but nothing like two promising bigs! Every minute I see these guys play, the more excited I get about the coming seasons.
2. The other young guys: Bobby Brown has been a surprise to say the least and Donte Green reminds me of a young Gerald Wallace in a lot of ways. Donte's minutes are vital to the Kings not making the same mistake they made with Gerald Wallace.
3. Coaching change this summer: The Kings brass should have a long list of candidates for the coaching vacancy. I hope they move fast and get a replacement as soon as possible. Hopefully a coach that can bring a winning attitude and tradition to our young players.
4. The Draft: The Kings have two picks in the first round this season... I love watching Petrie pick players... you can never predict his picks... ever (except for Hawes)...
5. Who's leaving?: Bobby Jackson, Quincy Douby, and Shelden Williams all have contracts that are ending this season. Next season, Kenny Thomas, Brad Miller, and Mikki Moore are all enders. Don't think that this is important? The Kings traded Bibby for a prospect and enders. The Kings might find other teams in need of enders... they have more value then people sometimes realize especially in February.
So, don't drop your heads... the Kings are on the move!
