Technology and the Kings

A great interview with Ranadive by Mike Zanian of Forbes magazine really describes how he is putting his background in software and technology to use in the building of the new Kings and the value he sees in the franchise. Very clear explanations and insights as to what we can expect in the future. Nothing about individual players or coaches, rather about social media and the big picture and how Wall Street software is being adapted to determining which players work better together and which draft choices project to be better NBA players. And what will be our social media experience in the new arena.

As much as I may criticize the FO, whether rightly or wrongly, I always can fall back to feeling comfortable that at the top of the Kings food chain is a great leader and innovator. He will take care of problems as he sees them.

Can see in not too distant future Kings organization developing own online platform for worldwide fan social networking participation not unlike what we do for fun here. Maybe KingsFans.com becomes a hot property for possible purchase by Ranadive:)

I liked the idea that any online spectator can know where everything is, shortest line, etc. Way cool. Also their development of software to evaluate not only individual players but combinations of players and how they perform in a somewhat infinite array of situations with combinations of other players. Now that is progress! Mr. Cuban eat your heart out!!

Interesting interview. It appears that the Kings will, or may currently be using data to decide who is the best fit for the team. I can see where you could have endless conversations on that subject. I wonder how many times the computer data would conflict with an NBA scouts imput. Good way to test the ability of your scouting dept as well.
