Teams still trying to get Bonzi (merged)

I'd take the trade. I like what I saw from the 3 of them in the playoffs. We need to add depth to our bench and having a sharp shooter like Barry really would spead the floor. While I'm so happy we did get Artest, we lost that spread the floor ability when Peja was behyind the line ready to launch a 3. Beno didn't get much playing time in the playoffs, but I like what I saw from him and Oberto. Oberto would be nice off the bench. I'd do that trade, we need depth and with Garcia and the rest of our young guards, we don't have it, while we need a good 4/5, Oberto could help in limited minutes behind SAR, maybe even Brad.

SAR seems to have a weapon for every occasion and they set up special plays to get the results they need. We need depth and if we could get these 3 for Bonzi then why not? Would we have to add some scubs to make it happen or Bonzi straight up for the 3 Spurs guys?

We don't need Beno. Price/Douby are already valued and liked by the organization. They're also quicker, athletic, better defensively. Beno's a good shooter, and can slash a bit, but isn't quick. If we got Beno, we'd have five PGs; Bibby, Douby, Price, Beno, and/or Hart. Three of them young.

Besides, he'd have a better oppurtunity in San Antonio battling with Jacque Vaughn for the back-up spot.

Barry would fit if Garcia's dealt for a big. That's only how that'd work.

Oberto? Eh. Not a shotblocker, not a presence or intimidator, not athletic, a decent hustle guy. I'd much rather have 2 of Wright/Cato/Olowokandi/williams/Amundson/Etan Thomas/Foster/Gadzuric/Scola than Oberto.

I like the rights to Scola and Barry better than Oberto/Barry/Udrih. Specifically from the Spurs.

Honestly, who knows how legit that rumor is anyways, Hoopsworld doesn't seem to be that good.

No doubt. I just wonder how many more days his agent has a job.

What a botch.
who's left with money...well let me see...um...Chicago, and um...Atlanta...and um...oh yeah, Charlotte...and...wow, lots of choices...six teams, eh Mr. Phillips?? Ole' Bonzinator wants to go to a contender, eh?? You better pull something outta your azz quick dude, because you screwed this all up!

Well, regardless, Kandi's a decent defensive big man, and would be a lot better than Potapenko.
dont get me wrong, Kandi is a big body that has skills...he just has no heart, and we dont need a guy like that out there on the floor...I'd take Massenburg back before I would Kandi.:D

Indeed. He hasn't seemed to have much energy or anything when I've seen him play.

Can't really say if that'd be a definite in Sac or not though. Think it could change with guys like Bibby/Artest/Musselman, and the Arco crowd. You see the rest of the team playing with energy, and, usually, you do too.

Well that guy with no heart will get you some pretty good production off the bench. The guy can play, he has proven he can be an important part of a winning team.

As Kings113 mentioned, I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do with a little Arco thunder behind him. And if he sucks the contract wouldn't be all that bad if we are talking LLE money.

This town has turned so many guys around and Kandi could be the most significant of all. I think it's worth a shot.

I love the "redundant talent" concept. That talent is equally redundant on our team. That's why we're electing to move on without Bonzi.

Yeah, it'd have to be the LLE.

eh...sure, for the LLE, I guess it wouldn't hurt, and if it doesn't work, you always have Amundson to throw more minutes in that role, perhaps. Maybe at this point in Kandi's career he's more willing to accept a diminished, although important role. But if you gave me a chce of Kandi or Wright, I'd take Wright with the quickness.

I'd take someone who at least looks like he has a clue from the free throw line. Half the time, Olowokandi looks like he's not even sure of the concept of standing behind the line and throwing the round sphere into the metal hoop.

Indeed. I'd take Wright over Kandi as well, but if we can't get him or Cato, I'd be just fine with Olowokandi.

(bold) As back-up center? I think Justin Williams would be more fitting to that ;). Though he probably wouldn't either unless it's going small, Williams is more of a PF right now. Until he adds some weight, which he can.

Amundson's a hustle, energy, mobile tweener.

Since we waived Monia, that means we have around a million more to offer a player, plus that 800,000 left from the MLE.

No, the Kings don't have another million to offer. They have another million under the tax threshold. To offer in straight salaries they have minimum contracts, the LLE and reportatly around $800K of the MLE. Anything else, I believe, would have to be thru some type of trade.

I think you're right.

If they waive a player, say Potapenko. His contract is about 3.5 mil I know they would have to pay him but, would that put us another 3.5 mil under the luxury tax??????

Every gauranteed contract counts. i.e.: Lakers and Brian Grant...$15 million still counts against their cap for this season, even though he hasnt been on the team since early last season because they traded for him with a gauranteed contract. Boston only owes him the vet. minimum.

"around $800K of the MLE" (it's $744,551) can be used only if Amundson waived. Actually it's pretty useless: it's a minimum salary and teams are allowed to sign such contracts as long as they have a roster spot.
