Teague > Curry; Aminu; Fl State

Kingster

Hall of Famer
For all the Curry fans out there, please check out Teague (Wake Forest). He's better. Superior quickness, superior speed, better defensive player. His defense was very good last night against NC. Seems like his stroke is just as good as Curry's, but in the NBA he'll be able to get his shot off much easier than Curry. Just like Curry, he's not a true point, but he is a heckuva good player, and his upside is much greater than Curry's imo. I wouldn't mind having him on the Kings. He's too good to fall to 15 or below, and probably not good enough (because of his lack of creative pg skills) to be a top 5. If we win some games and get pushed into the 10 area or so, he might be there.

Aminu is an excellent athlete by NBA standards. Raw as hell, but I can see why teams would pick him very high. High risk, very high potential gain. He's the type of player where it would take three years to make an impact in the NBA, but after that it could be quite an impact, or maybe not. Right now, it doesn't like he has any consistent offensive move, so he'd be better off staying in school.

Singleton at Fl. State is an NBA player waiting to happen. Another very athletic guy, incredible mitts on him. I'd take him after 15 in round one without blinking if he came out. And then they have a raw center (I forget his weird name) that looks like he could be extremely good - 7'1" project, but has major potential (esp. on D) written all over him.

I like Aminu a lot. Your right about him being very raw. I would call him a top 15 pick at the moment, and mostly because of his potential. He and Lawal are very similar players as far as skill levels go. Lawal projected at PF and Aminu projected at SF. Both very athletic guys and both projects.

Teague came out of nowhere--just one year ago, he was chided for his lack of point guard skills, and although he contributed extremely well for a freshman he struck the prototype of the gunner guard that turned off scouts. Now, he puts up ridiculous scoring numbers on high shooting percentages, and takes an even bigger role on a fairly deep Demon Deacon team (Ishmael Smith their (albeit horrific offensively) PG who started for them as a freshman, now comes off the bench) and thus gets bandied about as a lottery pick with comparisons to Jason Terry. I don't think he'll ever be much of a point guard (racks up turnovers way too much and has a 1:1 assist to turnover ratio) and frankly, he shouldn't even be this high--volume scorers will always get their 15-20 points in college. But there's still a long way to go, and I think he'll fall back to earth. But he came from the college as CP3, so that must amount to something.

From what I've seen so far, he could be a top 10. Call me crazy, but I'd take Aminu over Griffin. You've got to have guts to make that call because Griffin can get you more stats today, and because Griffin is a major hype job, but three years from now Aminu can be a star, and I don't think Griffin ever can. This team needs stars, and that means some bigtime athleticism, guys like Aminu, guys that you have to take more on potential than immediate impact. If the choice is between the safe pick who you really don't believe has the ceiling to be a star and the risky pick who you think has the ceiling to be a star, I really hope they pick the risky pick this time.

The more I see of these college players, the more I like the idea of additional picks in this draft. If you can get one or two more, then you can more easily go after the high ceiling players, while accepting the fact that some may not work out.

I definitely see the Terry comparison, and I think he could be better than Terry defensively. There could be worse things than having "Terry" on our team next year.:)

good thread. ive been on the teague bandwagon pretty big this year. Ive watched him play on a number of occasions, and the things he can do on the court are very incredible. I would take him in a heartbeat with our rockets pick, especially considering a guy like collison probably wont be around then, but then again id doubt teague would still be around at that point. if we were picking from 5-10 i would say he would be a good pick for sure. sure he needs more experience in playing the role of a true nba pg, and needs to control the turnovers, but he has all the tools and talent necessary to be a verry very good nba guard.

I really doubt he's going to be there for our Rocket's pick. We just need another pick in that 5-10 zone!:)

Teague is looking like a lottery pick. He has the height, ball skills, pedigree, and athleticism to find himself in that top 10 range. He'll probably knock Steph Curry into the lower tier of the 1st round if he and Wake continue to soar.

Dang, this guy's stock keeps rising and rising. I was hoping he would fall to about 20 where we could use our other 1st one him.
