Unlike game 1 where the suns got all possible calls, here the lakers got a couple of favourable calls, but those two calls may not have changed the game that much anyways. The kobe dunk and the charge is something that we will rarely see in the nba and everytime the replays will suggest a foul but the refs would play it safe and always call a blocking foul.
The difference in this game was the way the lakers played defense, they have studied the suns extensively and were able to pick them apart. Lots of those spectacular passes that Nash creates behind the back and all were anticipated and stolen, his drive and kick were anticipated and either stolen or disrupted. The suns shooters who earlier in the season or up until this game were sure that the ball would come their way are iffy and are expecting a defender to come at them and are not sure if the ball will come at all because they are picking it apart. When the focus is not there jump shooting is impossible and thats where the % dropped significantly.
PJ showed why he is a great coach in the playoffs, he is taking away the strengths of the opponents and is not playing his strength at all, which would be Kobe. the defensive game plan that the suns might have had before they started the series would be nullified and they have to scamper for a new scheme with such short time to prepare, amidst offensive adjustments that they have to make to counter the lakers defense.
Game 3 will be for sure a different variation and maybe we can even see the pick and roll with Kobe and the point guards to post kobe or smush on nash. They are already posting up nash and marion consistently to make them tired and most importantly stop them having a head start on the fast break if they miss. I think the lakers win in 5 or at most 6, both the games it was the lakers who looked in control except for the first quarter outburst the suns had in game 1.
