This year summer league has taken quite a different turn. After 3 scheduled games all teams will enter a single elimination tournament style of play. The seeding for the tournament is most interesting. Wins and losses don't count for or against any team.
Points are awarded for winning each quarter of play. If Team A scores 20 points in the first quarter and their opponent Team-B scores 19, Team A is awarded 1 point. Same for each succeeding quarter. Conversely if Team A outscores Team B by 20 in the the first quarter but Team B outscores Team A in the next 3 quarters, Team B is awarded 3 points and Team A only 1 point. Total points after 3 scheduled games set each teams seeding in the Tournament play. And the top 10 seeded teams get a Bye the next day.
The Kings play on Monday and Tuesday for their games 2 and 3. If they are seeded 11-22 they play Wednesday in their game 4. If they win they play their game 5 on Thursday. If they lose game 4 they go into a loser bracket for one more game to get a total of 5 games in. Winning continues on. Losing a game 5 and your summer league is over. At least thats how I read the rules. The two teams in the finals on Monday will have played 7 games to get to the finals.
