whats up with all these stupid suspensions? what happened to the days when you would fine a player and thats the end of it.... ITS THE PLAYOFFS NOT THE REGULAR SEASON!

suspending players could be the difference in a series....

Stu Jackson is calling people down from their classrooms to the principal's office. He's got some wimpy standards.

While the Bell suspension was not without merit, I agree that these playoffs have been more "sissy" than ever. As long as I can remember, the playoffs have been where the tough teams excel, where play gets a little more physical, and where refs start to let things slide more.

This year, things have been the opposite, from what I've seen so far. And I can't say I'm a fan of it, especially now that the Kings have finally become a physical and tough team.

The Bell takedown on Kobe is dirty, not tough/physical, so that stands about right in my book. But comparing that to what Artest did, or even Posey's foul on Hinrich (and I'm also a Bulls fan) and they don't even compare.

So Stu Jackson, shame on you! You wuss...

Imo:

Artest - suspension worthy. Showed intent to elbow Nose (though I'm about as upset about it as you guys are of Kobe getting hit). C'mon, guys. He did show intent even if it was The Nose.

Bell - suspension worthy. Needless to say.

Posey - borderline at best since the player he hit didn't leave his feet. He showed intent to hit him, but I saw Shaq do that to John Crotty once, knocked him off the floor. No suspension.

Evans - should've been suspended. Gross display in more ways than one.

Brown - ejection probably warranted.

Walton - exaggerated clothesline on Thomas' elbow. No need for suspension.

The suspensions aren't making these playoffs wuss, imo. It's the flops that are being awarded and the flagrant 1s that are being given out for stuff that isn't even close to being flagrant.

agreed

i, too, am getting annoyed with stu jackson assessing every friggin play that involves any kind of physicality. you can add dirk nowitzki to the list of fined/suspended players this postseason already. he got hit with a $15,000 fine for, yup, you guessed it! "unnecessary and excessive contact" on pao gasol. we're still in the first round, people! and the list is gettin' long:

haslem
artest
posey
evans
brown
bell
bryant
nowitzki

i may be missing some, i dunno. this list could get longer by the end of the day, i dunno. now, while some of the punishments have been warranted, it seems like stu jackson is on a complete power trip this post season, reviewing every play he can get his slimy hands on. let the boys play! competitiveness is great for the nba, especially in the playoffs. one-on-one player rivalries haven't been this good in a while. bryant/bell is turning into a helluva physical matchup. so is artest/ginobili and so was nowitzki/gasol. let em play, stu!

Uh oh, Etan Thomas suspension? Just fouled Hughes hard. Flagrant 1. ;)

J/K, but wouldn't surprise me nowadays if he is.
