I don't know how you could really look at this game and be overly hopeful about Stephen Curry's future NBA career. Duke positively shut him down, and they didn't use tricks either, they just played tough physical D. The vast majority of Curry's points came when the game was basically decided (it got close later, but mostly because Duke let up).
Curry really struglged at the point -- he's not actually that deft of a ballhandler, and he makes poor decisions (he had 7 turnovers). He's just not quick enough to consistently get his own shot, and I don't know that he's a good enough ballhandler to bring the ball up the floor against a strong NBA defensive point guard. He makes good solid passes, but nothing inspired.
Sure, good competition and if you look at the box score you'd think he played well (29/8/6), but it was a seriously ugly game.
Anyway back to the point. I think Curry would fit well with THIS team.
You just described Beno minus the rebounds and points on a day in day out basis. Sooooo if Beno is good enough to start at the point for us then why not this guy?
I don't think you could find two players more different than Beno Udrih and Stephen Curry. They're nothing alike.
But if you do want a score-first point guard, I suppose you can squint and see Stephen Curry running the point a la Mike Bibby -- slow, but can play the pick and roll to death. But I don't think he's as good a ball-handler as Bibby, he's obviously nowhere near as strong as Bibby, and I think he'd really struggle to get the ball up the floor and into the offense under pressure. He'd also be a Bibby-esque defender.
I like Curry a lot, but tonight's game really scared me. I pulled my hair out the last four years Bibby was here. I'd rather have something different this time.

Curry is a first round pick, there is nothing we can do about it.
...
Hopefully his draft stock plummets and we swoop him up for an early 2nd round pick.
That is completely unimaginable. Stephen Curry won't fall out of the lottery unless he is injured so badly his career is in jeopardy.
1 Stephen Curry
2 kevin martin
3 cisco
4. Someone we get in a trade
5. Hawes
Seems to me like a pretty good starting line up
