Yes, another dream offseason.
Trade Casspi and the pick for Jared Dudley straight up. The Suns are probably going to blow it up soon, and this would be a good start.
Dudley is a true SF, hits the 3, plays tough D, has playoff experience, a reasonable long term deal, and is turning 26.
A lottery pick and young SF seems like a high price for a role player, but the Suns love Dudley. I'm using the Houston/Memphis Battier for lottery pick (Rudy Gay) from a few years back as precedent for that move.
Hopefully Dalembert re-signs. If Petrie can get Robin Lopez into the deal (Frye and Gortat are locked up), then it would be perfect.
Sign a veteran ballhandler (Anthony Carter maybe) and big (Jason Collins/Dan Gadzuric/etc) for spot minutes off the bench (sorry Pooh), and the team is set.
top 8:
Beno/Thornton/Evans
Dudley/Garcia
Cousins/Dalembert( or Robin Lopez)/ Thompson
valuable but not quite rotation players:
Carter (when you need a ball handler)
Greene (big swingman/ stretch 4)
Collins (nice vet who will set screens and smile riding the pine)
Whiteside (developmental big)
Then the team is has 12 useful players, leaving room for your favorite of Taylor/Pooh and a 2nd round pick to fill out the bench.
Is this realistic? A good enough blend of veteran savy and promising youth?
