Spurs' backup guard Udrih breaks finger at training camp

SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio Spurs guard Beno Udrih broke his finger in training camp on Thursday.
Udrih will wear a cast for a couple of weeks while his left index finger heals, and probably won't be able to do much for three or four weeks, said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.
Udrih didn't have as big a role on the team last season because veteran Jacque Vaughn took over as backup point guard to Tony Parker. Udrih is beginning his fourth season with the Spurs. He averaged 4.7 points in 73 games last year.

he isn't as tough as popovich wants him to be and that's why he lost his backup pg job to nick the not so quick and an aging jacque vaughn.

His trade value just went from a speck to zilch. To me, he already hit his peak potential at his rookie season--in a championship team where he's capable of playing 15 minutes or so, he'd make a solid backup player. In any other team--therein lies the question. If the Spurs do need to shed contracts to ward away from the luxury tax, they may need to trade Jacque Vaughn instead (who, ironically, they just signed this offseason).
