Some numbers after Sac vs Mem game

zip95843

Bench
Rebounds:
MEM - 11 off, 45 total
SAC - 8 off, 31 total

Assts:
MEM - 19
SAC - 28

TO:
MEM - 19
SAC - 9

Steals:
MEM - 3
SAC - 9

Blocks:
MEM - 3
SAC - 5.

So, looking to the numbers I can't say we lacked defense that much as people trying to say. we gave up only 3 offensive rebounds more. But we caused MEM to have 10 more turnovers, we have outsteal them by 6 and we have outblocked them by 2. So what that MEM have 11 more defensive rebounds? It's number that compares their defense and our offense. But the other numbers shows that things are not that bad as it was.

Stro looked like Garnett out there, but the fact that we were able to take the game back reassured me.

Still gotta work on D and boxing out though, but hey, we did in 2002. :)

Piksi, I'm not talking about the season. I am talking about that game we played on Friday. Remember? When the whole hell broke loose in Detroit? Right, that game. So, looking into that game numbers, I say we improved comparing to the nightmarish first three games...

Points of the bench

57 - 25 MEM
You can't compare our bench to Mem bench. You can't compare anyone's bench to Mem bench. Their whole bench is their whole team, no one plays more than 30 min a game.

i think we are doing better on defense,
but some of those points that we allowed memphis were real easy ones.
that's where i think we need to do better.

Rebounding. Rebounding. Rebounding.

If we could get 27 or 28 rebounds from our starting frontcourt (Webber, Miller, Peja), we'd be okay. But last night, we only got 19, and 12 were from Chris.

Nobody can compare to memphis bench, they have arguably the best bench in the NBA. With that said, Sac has no bench whatsoever other than BJax. We need to add depth and we need to do it fast. The starters are going to be worn out come playoff time.

Also we allow 102.6 pts per game. Only Wizards are worse in the League
The points allowed stat is slightly miss leading in that teams that work a 1/2 court set eating up the clock will natuarly slow the game down for their oponets as well. Like wise a fluid offense that works a lot in transition and in free ball movemnt will not only allow for more possesions but will often loose the ball into fastbreak situations. (one of the reasons old shcoolers love 1/2 court games and hate run and gun) So even with the Kings getting blocks steals and stops, forcing bad shots and turn overs (and hypotheticaly getting boards) they will still be giving up a lot of points due to their style of play. The numbers you want to see are indicators like blocks, steals turn overs and defensive rebounds AND the gap betwwen points allowed and points scored.
