Report: Suns Sign Piatkowski for Two Years
"Tim Thomas' rapid dash for cash to the Clippers may have surprised Suns fans. Phoenix's first free-agent addition of the summer should not," writes Paul Coro of THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC. "The Suns snagged a shooter. Eric Piatkowski, a 6-foot-7 small forward, will spend his 13th and 14th NBA seasons in Phoenix after agreeing to a two-year, $2.4 million deal. Both years are guaranteed and at the minimum for a player of his experience. He can sign July 12." http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/sports/articles/0703suns0703.html

Mavs and Mbenga Reportedly Agree to Deal
Eddie Sefko of THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS reports, "While the Mavericks play the waiting game with top free-agent target Mike James, they have come to terms with backup center D.J. Mbenga on a multiyear contract. Mbenga has been with the team for two seasons. He earned $880,000 last season. Terms of the new deal were not disclosed. Mbenga can't sign the agreement until July 12, per free-agency rules." http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/basketball/mavs/stories/070306dnspomavsbriefs.186dde8.html

Bulls vs. Pistons: Ben Has Two Offers
"As other NBA free agents came to quick conclusions and signed new contracts over the weekend, Ben Wallace pondered the two deals on his plate and waited to see if others would top it," writes Krista Jahnke of the DETROIT FREE PRESS. "The Pistons have offered a four-year deal worth approximately $48 million to keep their defensive-minded center in Detroit. And the Chicago Bulls, who sent coach Scott Skiles and vice president of basketball operations John Paxson to Detroit, have started bidding at closer to $52 million for four seasons." http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060703/SPORTS03/607030372/1051

So much for Mbenga.

Nice little signing by Phoenix... doesn't improve their toughness, but Piatkowski can come in and hit shots and has experience.
