So who'll be available in next year's draft? (split thread)

Entity

Hall of Famer
yeah i don't know any of them. I just heard about him. So is there anybody in next years draft with the potential of Oden, Durant, Maybe even Lebron??

Note: I split this from the thread in the Kings Rap forum about the coaches.

:)

I don't know about anyone as good as Oden but from what I've heard there are some guys with star/superstar potential. Guys like Eric Gordon, Derrick Rose, OJ Mayo, Michael Beasley, and I like what I've read about DeAndre Jordan.

This was the year for bigs, although we're too late in the draft order to have a shot at any big who will be a star during the remainder of the decade. Next year will be a good draft for guards, if we get an early enough pick. But unless we make it into the top 5 or so, it's just going to be a repeat of this year -- watch the teams before us clean up, while we pick through the leftovers.

Portland Trailblazers. Fear them!

There are a ton of PFs I really like in next year's draft. Cs also. I like Beasley a lot. Then there's guys like Arthur, Taj Gibson, and DeAndre Jordan. As far as centers go there's Brook Lopez and Roy Hibbert, definitely not a guy like Oden obviously but I think both can be good role players.

edit: as far as the leftovers thing you said goes, I don't think that'll be the case. I think Petrie will load up on expirings and young guys, maybe a couple picks. We'll probably get like the 3rd pick next year IMO. Then next offseason I think we'll probably try to sign a big name FA like Arenas or Brand(both can opt out I think, 99% sure Gil can). Big name FA+2 lottery picks+KMart+a few vets+a few of our young role players can be a pretty good team IMO.

So there you have it, the pessimistic view and the optimistic one.

Maybe we will have Jianlian, Taj Gibson, Artest, Arenas and Brand. Or maybe we will have Bibby, Martin, DaJuan Summers, Miller and Jason Smith. You just never know!

Whoa... This is a bit early to tell who will be good and who wont. This question cannot be answered for a while. Being a good draft year I bet 10 will net us a decent pick.

Well bro it depends on what really happened behind the scenes that we didn't know as much about... if Artest's problems were overblown, then you can keep him IMO if you get a coach he knows/respects(maybe Brooks??? Ron seemed much happier when he was coaching instead of Musselhead). If not then you deal him for a young player, pick, and expirings. Deal Bibby for the same thing, maybe to move up in the draft with Boston or something. But get those expiring contracts. There will be multiple FAs out there next offseason who we could REALLY use. Pair that player up with Martin+2 lottery picks(for the heck of it I'll just throw out Brandan Wright and Derrick Rose for names)+a few vets/young role players and you're on your way to building a contender IMO. There are a lot of possibilities...

Sure, #10 shouldn't be a total loser or anything. But what he was asking was whether there was another Oden, Durant, or Lebron in the next draft. Derrick Rose is looking like he might be superstar material, and is looking to go at #1. Whether there's even one more guy at that level in next year's draft is debatable. I'd be ecstatic if there were still one to be had at #5.

Anyway, I was just responding to the original question.
