So Far So Good

Kings are averaging 19 assists per game along with 6 blocks. Last year we barely averaged 3.5 blocks per game. It is preseason, but its a nice stat anyway.

Ok, so far, so pretty good, agreed. But that word "preseason" really needs to be underscored, bolded, and put in giant red caps. Its really got very little to do with anything, outside of us finally getting a feel for what the new guys will look like and what the guiding philosophy will be. Even in the regular season you would need the disclaimer that we ran into the Mavs without their starting or backup PGs, starting PF and superstar, and their 6th man, and the Lakers without their starting OG and superstar, their starting C, or starting PF. But in the preseason? They are starting backups. We are playing backups for half the game. Motivation is all over the board. Results in preseason just rarely mean much. San Antonio was 2-7 last year in preseason. Miami and Detroit were 4-4. Only the Mavs were 6-2. This is an interesting preseason with all of the changes, but predictive = a giant ?

Last night I saw a lot of good but also a lot of scary -- Ron looks like he's still trying to find his offensive game, which has me very nervous. Kenny played like someone told him he was coming off the bench for the rest of his career. Garcia looked about as bad as he was last preseason. Maurice Taylor looks like he has the potential to be the worst-rebounding big man ever to play for the Kings, which is really saying something.

But hey. Preseason.

Isn't that what preseason is for... i would much rather have Ron figure it out now then during the season.

Thurdays game will be a good barometer to see what we got as Phx is playing all their regulars and so are we for at least 20 min a game. It will be nice to see where we are at vs. a starting 5.

Preseason is great for Muss to see what needs to be worked on in real game situations. So any mistakes or undesirables could and should be fixed by time its for real.

yea but then again, the reason for that margin is because the kings are playing their whole team and all of their starters while most other teams are just playing their younger and less experienced guys and benching their stars... ex. mavs (dirk, terry, stack benched) and lakers (kobe benched).
